About Us
We met at McMaster University in fall of 1998... it was love at first sight, well not quite. It was really Amy having too good of a time partying and Ajay sweeped her off her feet and carried her to safety. Ajay was always the knight in shining armour. The loved blossomed and grew year after year after year... well you get the picture, until after a long 8 years when we decided to make our love official! We moved in together into the apartment in Guelph, in Spring 2004 after we had been doing the long distance relationship thing (Ajay in Cambridge, Amy in Toronto), it was the best decision we had ever made. The rest is history.
The Proposal
The first proposal was kind of unexpected, it was December 28th, 2005 when we had been talking about when we were going to make it official, we started to go look for rings (of course just looking), but Amy fell totally in love with the perfect ring leading to an awkward yet special proposal in the jewelry store.
The second proposal was on New Year's Eve a few days after the first. We were on our way to the bank, when Ajay took a detour and led us to Hamilton, ON where we first met on the campus grounds of McMaster University. We ventured around the campus until we ended up where we had our first kiss (between Hamilton Hall & Gilmour Hall), he got down on one knee, talked about all the wonderful times we have had together, the years of happiness and how it all began, he then grabbed the ring back and put it back on my finger.
How amazing!!! 2 proposals and 2 weddings... double the fun!!!
The Wedding Party
Maid of Honour:
My best friend Kelley Cannon. I have known Kelley since Kindergarten. We have been through tough times in our life together, but we are always there for each other, and she always seems to know exactly who I am. We seem to call each other just when we need it. I could not ask for a better person to stand beside me and share this special day in my life.
Bridesmaids:
My other best friend, Laura Pennal. I have also known Laura since Kindergarten, what a blast she is!!! So funny and a great support, always dependable with an amazing creative side to her. We are going to have so much fun!
Shannon Duff - one of my best friends from University. I have known Shannon since my days at McMaster. We lived in the same residence and then lived together in our second year in Bates. Shannnon is full of energy, enthusiasm, laughter, sunshine. She is so positive and will keep me going when I'm stressed.
Deepti Dewan - My other best friend from MAC. Dee came into my life at MAC, although for only 1 quick year, somehow we have always stayed close. She is now unfortunately living in the great US of A with her new husband, Nitin, but I know she will always be there for me, and I will need her support more than ever this coming year as her knowledge of the Indian culture will get me through anything... as long as she doesn't make me wear bells on my ankles (hehehe).
Best Man:
Brad Ford - Ajay has known Brad since he was in kindergarten. They continued to be good friends through high school and when McMaster came knocking on their doors, they decided to be roomates in residence for 3 years. Amy first got to know Brad when Ajay and Brad lived together in Brandon Hall. He's always been there for Ajay and Ajay will always be there for Brad, including his upcoming wedding to Yvette Shooter in June 2007.
Groomsmen:
Sandy Jackson - Ajay has also known Sandy since elementary school and they have continued to be close friends. Sandy and Ajay have shared a lot of great times, which have usually involved beer. Some of the best times were our yearly camping trips where the 2 of them always stayed up later than anyone else and would see what they could melt in the fire, i.e. chips, hot dogs, and shoes?
George Tanev - Ajay has know George since elementary school. They have had lots of great times on baseball road trips to the U.S., camping, and BBQ's at George's place. George has always been a great friend.. he's so giving of himself and we value his friendship. Also many thanks to George's wife, Jenn, who will be doing our wedding cake for the Indian wedding.
Mark Theis - Ajay has known Mark since high school. Mark has always been a lot of fun and I had the pleasure of hearing lots of Mark's stories about Ajay when he was young. Mark now keeps busy as a proud husband and father for wife Christina & son Brodie, and he is expecting his next child only a few days before our wedding.. so no doubt he will be busy.
The Wedding Day
We will be getting married on Friday September 28th, 2007 at Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, ON. The ceremony will begin at 4:30pm with cocktails and reception following. The theme is fall, my favourite time of year, the bridesmaid's will be wearing wine colored dresses, and the room will be filled with the sights of the fall season.
The second wedding will take place on Sunday September 30th, 2007 at the Burlington Convention Centre in Burlington, ON. Events starting at 2:30pm with reception to follow. For some, this will be the first time seeing an East Indian wedding, expect it to be bright, colourful, fun, exciting, lots of food and drink, and lots of people. Wear bright colours!!!
We look forward to having everyone share in our special weekend!
