An Elegant Seaside Wedding In Sooke, British Columbia

On a beautiful evening in the fall of 2012, Michael brought his high school sweetheart, Lindsey, up to the top of a mountain in Victoria. He led her down a narrow path to a clearing where he had scattered tea lights in Mason jars to create the perfect ambiance and there, overlooking the city, he proposed.

The couple’s seaside wedding ceremony was an outdoor affair held at a stunning lodge in Sooke, B.C. With a beautiful ocean view as their backdrop, the couple said their “I dos” in front of 80 guests. Lindsey says exchanging vows was definitely her favourite part of the day. “We decided to write our own vows, and now that I look back on the ceremony I’m so glad we did!” she exclaims. “That moment was so real and so magical for the both of us. The beautiful words and that moment in time will never be forgotten.”

After the ceremony Lindsey and Michael hosted an elegant reception with rustic west coast touches. The couple topped their reception tables with candles, white blooms and sprigs of rosemary. Guests were asked to contribute to a video guest book and were given quirky Mad-Libs to fill out about the couple. After an evening of dancing, guests were sent home with pots of local honey — a perfect sweet end to the night.
