A Glamorous Urban Wedding in Toronto

After unintentionally kiboshing three consecutive proposal missions, Jamie McArthur accepted her fiance Kris Kruczek’s fourth and final attempt at betrothal. Happily engaged, the pair began planning a glamorous urban wedding inspired by Jamie’s love of bling. Guests decked out in black and white arrived for the ceremony at Islington United Church, where Jamie walked down the aisle in a fitted silk gown by Anjolique paired with glittering jewels. Her monochromic bouquet was appropriately wrapped in a rhinestone sash. After exchanging vows, the newlyweds joined their 155 guests at the Grand Luxe Event Boutique, where the shimmering celebration continued. “We wanted a formal sparkly party,” says Jamie, who designed her own bling-inspired wedding cake. With an after-dinner dress change, Jamie slipped into a glittery La Femme evening gown while guests enjoyed a photo booth and cupcakes. DJed by Michael Coombs Entertainment, the glamorous urban wedding took a sentimental turn when Jamie danced with Kris to “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, the same song he had burned on a CD for her early in their relationship.

“The food was excellent, our venue was absolutely fabulous and our wedding planner was exceptional,” says Jamie, who joined her husband in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a mini-moon following the festivities. “Dream big,” she says, recalling her glamorous urban wedding. “An imagination and a fantastic wedding planner is key.”

    I have been to several functions at the Grand Luxe and am amazed at what they can do in terms of decor. It has always looked so different and more beautiful each time we have been there.

    This group also runs the Palais Royale on the lake and Casa Loma which is no wonder why their quality is top notch.
