Q: My soon-to-be husband would like four or five groomsmen, and I only want three bridesmaids. Is it all right if our wedding party doesn’t match up perfectly? Should I suggest he limits his number of groomsmen?

A: Of course it’s all right if your party doesn’t match up just right. It’s your wedding day, so you want the people you care about most by your side.
Traditionally, the ratio of groomsmen to bridesmaids is equal. If you really do feel like you’d prefer an even set, suggest that the remaining groomsmen be involved in your wedding in another way. Ask them to be ushers or perform a special reading on your wedding day.

I’ve also heard of doing a 1:2 ratio. So, if your budget permits it, you could add another groomsman and have one bridesmaid walk down the aisle with two groomsmen.
