Possibly one of the best parts of wedding planning is cake tasting, and with so many options it’s hard to choose the perfect flavour. Red Velvet was red hot in 2011, but this year, fresh fruit flavours are in. Taste buds are also being tickled with vibrant flavour combinations using spices, tangy citruses and caramels. Luckily, we’ve narrowed down some popular flavour trends to make your choice a little easier (there’s no still no harm in trying as many as you can).

    I was very lucky to have a great friend (http://www.claudiasconfections.com/) bake my wedding cake. The guests loved it and there was almost no cake left by the end of the night. Our cake was 4 tiers with two of them being lemon cake with lemon curd and raspberry compote topped with lemon buttercream, and then the other two tiers were pineapple coconut with rum buttercream. People kept going back for seconds so that they could have each flavour (sometimes more than once)!
