Q: Is it okay to put a whole family, or one couple on one place card? Should they be done individually?
A: According to Peggy Post’s book Wedding Etiquette place cards should be at each guest’s place for smaller wedding receptions. For a large wedding reception you have the option of numbering your tables and assigning each guest a number on individual place cards set up at the entrance of your reception. Then it will be up to your guests to find their corresponding tables. If your wedding is less formal, then the bridal party and parents’ table may have place cards, while other guests can seat themselves as they wish. As for putting a whole family on one place card, you would be best to seat them at an individual table. That way only one place card would be needed for that one table and family.
