Pantone Colour of the Year 2013: Emerald

  |  By Alison McGill

Goodbye tangerine tango, hello emerald! Pantone has just released its 2013 Colour of The Year and prepare to be dazzled by this incredible gem tone for the next 12 months. According to Pantone emerald is "a vivid, verdant green, that enhances our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight, as well as promoting balance and harmony." It is a luxurious shade that is most often associated with gemstones. It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity. Pantone notes that "no other colour conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity."

“Green is the most abundant hue in nature – the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “As it has throughout history, multifaceted emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

We were predicting a green hue would top Pantone's list and love the idea of incorporating emerald elements into your wedding day from shoes (like these gorgeous Louboutins), to bridesmaid dresses, reception decor details and even your engagement bling.
