Idyllic Honeymoon Destinations
The Disney Fantasy, Disney Cruise Lines
Disney has been sailing the high seas since 1998 and its ships have repeatedly topped Conde Nast Traveler magazine’s “Top 100 Cruise Ships in the World” survey. Disney Fantasy, the biggest and shiniest ship, joined Disney’s fleet in March and is definitely a superstar of the sea. Almost four football fields in length, the Disney Fantasy is longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower and rises 14 storeys above sea level. With the capacity for 4,000 passengers, the Fantasy is currently sailing from Port Canaveral on seven-night Caribbean itineraries with stops in St. Maarten and St. Thomas; or Grand Cayman, Costa Maya and Cozumel. All sails include a day at Disney’s private Bahamian island Castaway Cay, which we have to say is complete paradise on earth. What makes the Disney Fantasy perfect for honeymooning? You can relax, play, dance, dine (Palo, the adults-only resto is a must), meet Disney friends, smooch under the fireworks (they launch from the ship’s top deck!), spa, enjoy nightly shows and slumber sweetly in spacious staterooms (book a deluxe oceanview with veranda). You will also be completely romanced by the ship and the majesty of its design, especially spectacular details like the lobby’s exquisite marble floors, cascading chandeliers and gold-gilded staircase. Oh, and let’s not forget the fun on-board the Fantasy. It’s all pixie dust, all the time. There are nightly shows, a full-size movie theatre, deck parties on the ship’s upper levels, a pirate party, a spa, swimming pools and the AquaDuck, an encapsulated water coaster that shoots you around the entire length of the ship. As you would expect with all things Disney, the service on the Fantasy is supreme; nobody does it better than Mickey.
