8 Mind-Blowing Honeymoon Destinations
Lake Placid
Nestled in Upstate New York’s Adirondack Mountains, Lake Placid is famous as the site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympics. The area is also one of the most picturesque corners of the world, an ideal honeymoon spot if you love the outdoors, mountains and miles of evergreens.
Where to Stay: The Lake Placid Lodge is a rare gem of a hotel. It is at once grand and intimate; luxurious and rustic. This Relais and Châteaux property, built on the shores of Lake Placid, is designed in the Arts and Crafts tradition of historical great American lodges. In the main lodge there are just five guest rooms; there are also 17 lakeside cabins, six lakeside suites and two cottages. The room decor is rich and romantic—think lush fabrics, rustic wood and stone fireplaces. The food, service and surroundings here are spectacular, making it an amazing destination wedding spot. Supermodel Maggie Rizer wed here in 2010, as featured in Vogue.
