Crafty Wedding Cakes

To all you Winnipeg brides, if you haven’t found your cake you may want to take a peek at Vanilla Bean Cakes! I cannot say enough good things about this awesome cake shop. Every one of their designs are super-gorgeous and look inviting to eat. I was particularly drawn to these three cakes. The first, a warm home-sweet-home dessert table, the second a replicated wedding cake for the couples’ anniversary and, lastly, a gorgeous chocolate wedding confection decorated in cute buttons and ribbons.

Something Cold, Something Blue

So far in our wedding plans, David and I haven’t really encountered too many challenges. Well, other than losing half the wedding party and my dress disappearing along with the retailer – but that’s all part of the fun, right? Though we’ve become hooked on Say Yes to the Dress as well as Rich Bride, Poor Bride (don’t tell, but I may have received a text message now and then making sure I set the PVR!), the thing that’s surprised me the most is the lack of drama that seems to go along with wedding planning on these shows.  But that’s not to say there isn’t one teensy issue proving a little difficult: the whole ‘winter’ thing.

At the beginning of my blogging journey here, one of the big issues was finding outerwear for the wedding party, which proved quite the challenge. You were all rock stars in helping me out – and a HUGE thank you must be said for all the comments (and e-mails, with more online shopping options than I could shake a credit card at)! Outerwear for us has since been located – we found perfect coats (at Superstore of all places!), but that’s not where the challenge ended. We have guests to keep warm! One of the biggest things we want to ensure in this winter wedding is everyone’s comfort. Read the rest of this entry »

Wedding Belle: A Blushing Bride

Bride: Lara Nesplak
Wedding Date:
August 22, 2009
Wedding Location:
Winnipeg, Manitoba
Wedding Style:
This wedding had pretty in pink written all over it! Lara’s girlish charm shone through in every way- from her sweetheart gown with a big bow on the side to the bright pink roses that dominated her bouquet. Lara wore her beautiful, red hair down in loose waves that looked oh-so-natural with a mid-length veil. Her favourite girls also looked fun-loving and feminine in their bright pink cocktail dresses that matched the groomsmen’s ties perfectly. Lara definitely got her dream of having a “garden wedding with lots of pink and polka dots!”
The Look:
Bridal Gown, Evalina Couture (evalinacouture.com). Flowers, Timeless Florals (204-832-2419). Hair, Salon One (403-279-9191). Makeup, Buttercup Beauty Bar (buttercupbeautybar.com). Cake, Chef Angela at Pineridge Hollow (pineridgehollow.com). Read the rest of this entry »
