Heart and Sole
I haven’t blogged about shoes in a while, and shoes always make me happy, so here goes! These exquisite peep-toe pumps are absolutely perfect in every way, and proof-positive why the late Alexander McQueen was a true fashion genius: they’re sexy (yes, white satin can be sexy!) and daring with a dash of whimsy—in case you hadn’t noticed, the “peep” is actually heart-shaped. Bachelor Wedding on TV
Remember Jason Mesnick, the former bachelor who dumped his final pick Melissa on the “After the Rose” episode, only to ask for Molly back? Well, Jason seems to know what he wants now because he’s saying “I do” to Molly on TV Monday night. The actual wedding already took place, February 27, at the Terranea Resort in California. I Need Shoes!
There are only 50 days left until the big day and I’m ready to knock one more task off of the “to do” list.
My dress is supposed to arrive in February and I know it’s important to bring your wedding shoes to the dress fitting. This means I have to go get shoes! I have never been a shoe person. I always thought I would just wear running shoes under my wedding dress and go for comfort. My mom has convinced me that I could use a little bit of extra height though. Read the rest of this entry »

Carnations Have Feelings Too
Yesterday I had the oddest conversation with a florist. She had mentioned that, and I quote, “I would NEVER put a carnation in a wedding bouquet.” Immediately taken back, I thought to myself, hmm, now what’s wrong with carnations? Sure they’ve gotten a bad rap over the last few years and they’re not exactly my fave flower either, but I didn’t think they were THAT horrendous and NEVER is such a strong word. Well, hoping to prove her wrong, I made it my mission (I love challenges like these!) to find beautiful arrangements and inspiration filled with nothing but CARNATIONS! And, just as I imagined, I found some really amazing ideas. If you’re not a huge carnation fan, maybe these three finds will sway you over–and hopefully it will sway our little florist friend over too. Enjoy!

See?! Purple carnations paired with greenery is so elegant.

Real Wedding: Very, Very, Vintage

My jaw hit the floor when I saw these beautiful images taken by Peter from Stec Photo. The couple, Alyssha and Jordan were really aiming for a 1920s’ theme with a modern twist (i.e. 1950’s sneakers on the guys), and I must say, they really hit the nail with this one. Everything about this wedding screamed vintage chic from the fashion to the location (Vinifera Winery Estate B + B) to the cake! Our congrats to the happy couple, and thank-you for sharing your day with us!

All White?

Love the ruffle and bow at the neckline! Image courtesy Alfred Angelo.
Here’s another bit of interesting historical wedding trivia for you: Queen Victoria’s bridesmaids all wore white to her wedding! At first I wasn’t so sure about this idea—would the bride stand out enough? It is her moment to shine after all. However, after finding numerous examples of totally stylish all-white wedding parties on the web, I think I might be coming around to the concept. Read the rest of this entry »
