A Casual Affair

When longtime customer, turned friend, emailed me late July to say that he and his girlfriend had decided to get married August 21st, it was a welcomed surprise!  We had a little over three weeks to transform their beautiful beach cottage, just three homes up from the famous beach boardwalk, and their two neighbour’s yards, into a celebration haven.

Nature lovers at heart, they wanted a casual garden party to adorn their union. The only decor specification that I was given was that there was to be lots of birch poles, making the entrances of the tents feel like a forest. All other design elements I could do what I pleased — how much fun is that!! Read the rest of this entry »

Country never looked so good!

Great long time friends of ours recently got married in the beautiful country setting of Price Edward County. They were married right beside the water under a quaint trellis, with the reception in a big beautiful red barn.

If was perfect that Melanie (a.k.a. the bride) chose mason jars as the vases, holding an elaborate, yet just like picked out of the garden mix. It even amazed me about how many stems I was able to fit into one mason jar! When you are creating this carefree look, it is imperative to use a large range of flowers. Then you naturally get a garden feel, without trying. Read the rest of this entry »

High and Low Bridal Shoes

Jimmy Choo slingbacks from Net-a-porter, $695

One of my favourite sites to “window shop” is net-a-porter. I love checking out what’s new, browsing through their magazine and adding items to my wish list. It also happens to be their 10th anniversary this year too! In case you haven’t had a chance to check them out, net-a-porter has a bridal boutique which includes dresses, shoes, bags and accessories. It’s a great place to find that perfect splurge item — including to-die-for shoes from Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and Lanvin. I’ve showcased a couple of my favourite finds — a pair of Jimmy Choo white peep-toe slingbacks for the classic bride and a pair of gold Christian Louboutin’s for the glamour girl!

The CG&S McDreamy

As I’m sure you all know by now, I love, love, love whites and creams. I would even say this event could easily be our CG&S Signature wedding.

White hydrangea, lisianthus and creamy Vandella roses in a low, lush mounded design, accentuated in an exquisite footed bowl with matching hurricanes surrounding the centrepiece to boot! Read the rest of this entry »

Express Yourself

{All photography courtesy Ikonika}

A wedding is a snapshot of a couple for all their guests to see. Their taste, likes, loves is all captured in a wonderful celebration. Don’t be afraid to show your guests who you are!  A recent bride reminded me of how important this is.

Lauren and David had a large, high style affair held at Copper Creek Golf Club. Yet, everything about the wedding was planned with an earthy, warm-hearted style that was a perfect fit for this beautiful couple.

Lauren’s bouquet of calla lilies helped capture her sophisticated personality, while the rest of the decor was designed to show the couples love for organic things.

Heavenly Hydrangeas

I love hydrangeas and currently have the most beautiful blue ones at home, an Easter gift from Mom and Dad. Looking at it immediately takes me back to when I was choosing flowers for my wedding last February—I wanted an all white palette and hydrangea was my choice to anchor my arrangements and bouquet. I just love the romantic, ruffled appearance of the blooms and how they have so much presence—hydrangeas make a bold floral statement, without being too voluminous or too busy. I love this centerpiece I found from Vintage Design Co. (who are located in the Niagara region), which features the pretty blue hydrangea like I currently have at home. They make for a gorgeous and lush spring bouquet.

Heart and Sole

Alexander McQueen's Heart Peep-Toe Pumps at Net-a-Porter.com.

I haven’t blogged about shoes in a while, and shoes always make me happy, so here goes! These exquisite peep-toe pumps are absolutely perfect in every way, and proof-positive why the late Alexander McQueen was a true fashion genius: they’re sexy (yes, white satin can be sexy!) and daring with a dash of whimsy—in case you hadn’t noticed, the “peep” is actually heart-shaped. Check out the detail shot after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
