Just for Fun: If Super Mario Had a Wedding…

wbjan10_mario1_400x400

We’re a bit obsessed with Super Mario right now, or shall I say we’re a “Wii” crazy. Jenn’s been playing non-stop ever since she bought a console over the holidays, Alison has been trying to beat the new Super Mario Bros. (I beat it a few weeks ago!), Nicole even took a stab at Wii Sports, and Steph is thinking of trying it out. I wasn’t even going to blog about Super Mario until I received this awesome e-mail with a Super Mario cake image from Chrissie at Too Nice to Slice. So, the image got me thinking. If Super Mario were to have a wedding what would it look like? I’m thinking it would have to have the following elements:

Cutest First Dance Song… EVER!

Did I mention how much I love reading real wedding questionnaires? Every submission is always unique and different, and I always feel the enthusiasm and passion that each real wedding couple has put into their answers–almost as if I was there on their actual wedding day. One of the couples (can’t mention names just yet) whom I interviewed for our Spring + Summer 2010 issue (set to hit stands mid-December) had the most adorable wedding song called “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. Longtime Love

WBSept09_patrickswayze

Patrick Swayze in A&E's The Beast.

In Hollywood, enduring marriages are as rare as au naturel celebs over the age of 40, so the 34 years between Patrick Swayze and wife Lisa Niemi was such a breath of fresh air. The recent passing of Swayze, who had been battling cancer for quite some time, brought me back to when I first was introduced to the star who wooed audiences in Dirty Dancing and Ghost. Here Comes the Bride

A friend of mine recently got married and one wedding detail that completely stumped her was the soundtrack for her walk down the aisle. She wanted something with panache and personality, not your traditional “Pachelbel’s Canon.”

What’s Your Wedding Song?

Whenever I interview couples for our real weddings section, one question I’m always eager to ask is their wedding song choice. I don’t know why, but every once in a while I get an answer, and I’m like, oh yeah, that is a really, really great song. I love the originality behind a couple’s choice and hearing their story about why it’s their song.

Musical Notes

On Friday, I had lunch with my old friend Adam, a guy who has been one of my best buddies since we met in grade six. He’s a super-talented performer, a jazzy crooner, who’s on the road most of the time, so it’s not often we get to catch up in person. He stopped by the office for a visit, then we lunched and when we came back, he was sharing his stories of the glamorous life with us at the WB.
