Best Dressed: Anne Hathaway & Olivia Wilde
Who tuned into the Globes last night? Well, if you’re anything like us, then you’ll agree that half of the fun is seeing what everyone decided to wear. Emerald green seemed to be the shade of the awards, which turned up on Angelina Jolie, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mila Kunis and Elisabeth Moss. That being said, my favourites were bold and sparkly! I loved the amber Armani Privé gown Anne Hathaway opted to wear, with bold shoulders and a super-low back. Plus it was a nice change to see sleeves on the red carpet. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s beginning to feel like the real deal
It’s becoming real for me. I had my first official appointment at a bridal boutique today and tried on dresses!! My mom and I (arm in arm) walked in excitedly, giggling to one another, I was a little nervous having no clue as to how things would go down but Mary Ann of Runway Bridal eased us into the process with such care. I felt so comfortable expressing my needs to her. I’ve heard horror stories of shops making women feel rushed, unwelcome, pressure selling and even just plain rude to their potential clients. I am so thankful to Mary Ann for making my experience so completely amazing. I was concerned that I might not see anything, I’m extraordinarily picky but I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a wide variety of dresses that I liked, even LOVED and my mom actually yelped at one point, “That’s the one and I’ll buy it for you I like it so much!” Read the rest of this entry »

Rivini Trunk Show
Have you ever been to a trunk show? In the fashion world trunk shows are a way to get up close and personal to a designer’s collection. Often there will be more pieces than what you’ll find in the boutique and you’ll also get a chance to speak with a representative or even the designer themselves! This Friday and Saturday at White Toronto, from 10a.m. – 6p.m. is a Rivini Trunk Show. The designer behind the collection, Rita Vinieris will also be there, so you’ll have the chance to chat with the designer herself. We absolutely love Rivini’s deisgns and last time she was in town, we actually had a chance to chat with her. Space is limited and an appointment is required, so if you’re looking for an elegant and romantic wedding dress, we suggest you check out Rivini.

Monique Lhuillier Fall 2011 Collection
For those of you who need to get acquainted with designer Monique Lhuillier, let me introduce you. Chances are you saw her latest creation on recent-bride, Carrie Underwood, who wed hockey player Mike Fisher. She’s also dressed Britney Spears (to her wedding to ex-Kevin Federline), Jewel, Ashlee Simpson and Kate Walsh, to name a few. Aside from her celebrity followers, her gowns have appeared in tons of editorials (including yours truly) and she’s even branched into bridesmaids, ready-to-wear, table top and fine paper. We love Monique’s creations because they’re elegant, ultra-romantic and very feminine. Read the rest of this entry »

How Many Brides in One Place?
{The Citytv Crew at the Windfall event}
On October 24, Windfall charity broke the Guinness World Record for the largest group of people dressed as brides (so yes, men were there dressed in gowns) in one place. Held at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto, the event was put on to raise money towards their anti-poverty programs and also was the launch of their new boutique Windfall Brides, a place where brides can purchase affordable wedding gowns, with the money going to charities that support people in poverty.
