Why You Need Start Watching Four Weddings Canada

We know you’re knee-deep in booking caterers and considering florists, but we highly recommend you start taking some time out on Wednesday nights to watch Four Weddings Canada, the show that pits four brides against each other in a matrimonial showdown for a chance to win a dream honeymoon. Why? Quite simply: It’s hilarious. Need proof? You’ll find it in these Toronto Life recaps complete with “Bitch-O-Meters” and titles like “Your Wedding Sucks” and “Drunk Husband-Bride”. In each hour-long episode of the show, four diverse and opinionated brides attend each other’s weddings and then score them out of ten in four categories — venue, food, dress and overall experience. Toronto Life then takes the scrutiny one step further by rating each bride’s behaviour.

Four Weddings Canada probably won’t help you with the wedding planning process but it’s good for a laugh — and you’ll definitely take solace in the fact that there won’t be four strangers and a camera crew in attendance on your big day.

Something Cold, Something Blue

So far in our wedding plans, David and I haven’t really encountered too many challenges. Well, other than losing half the wedding party and my dress disappearing along with the retailer – but that’s all part of the fun, right? Though we’ve become hooked on Say Yes to the Dress as well as Rich Bride, Poor Bride (don’t tell, but I may have received a text message now and then making sure I set the PVR!), the thing that’s surprised me the most is the lack of drama that seems to go along with wedding planning on these shows.  But that’s not to say there isn’t one teensy issue proving a little difficult: the whole ‘winter’ thing.

At the beginning of my blogging journey here, one of the big issues was finding outerwear for the wedding party, which proved quite the challenge. You were all rock stars in helping me out – and a HUGE thank you must be said for all the comments (and e-mails, with more online shopping options than I could shake a credit card at)! Outerwear for us has since been located – we found perfect coats (at Superstore of all places!), but that’s not where the challenge ended. We have guests to keep warm! One of the biggest things we want to ensure in this winter wedding is everyone’s comfort. Read the rest of this entry »

Bachelor Wedding on TV

Remember Jason Mesnick, the former bachelor who dumped his final pick Melissa on the “After the Rose” episode, only to ask for Molly back? Well, Jason seems to know what he wants now because he’s saying “I do” to Molly on TV Monday night. The actual wedding already took place, February 27, at the Terranea Resort in California. The Bachelor Heads to St. Lucia

Jade Mountain in St. Lucia.

I’ll admit it—I’ve been watching The Bachelor. It’s my Monday-night, guilty pleasure and sometimes all you need is some light TV-watching. For those of you who don’t watch and need a catch up, at the end of Monday’s episode, there was no rose ceremony. Ali (my personal top choice) chose to leave to show so she wouldn’t lose her job. While I suspect Ali might return (in the preview, she calls Jake), there are still three women left for him to make his wife and he’s already declared he’s in love with more than one. Which one? Well, I hope it’s like Jillian and Ed from The Bachelorette and Ali returns to get the proposal, but honestly at this point I’m scared to admit I think he may pick Vienna. The Office Wedding

WBOct09_the-office-weddingEarlier this month, The Office‘s favourite couple Pam and Jim said, “I do.” We loved her simple and chic A-line, empire waist gown by David’s Bridal she walked down the aisle in. Another bonus: budget-friendly! Read the rest of this entry »

Giddy with Gleeeeee

OMG, have you been watching Glee?! If you haven’t, you’ve got to jump onto the bandwagon. I think I’m a tad too obsessed with it, as I’ve been looking for a way to blog about Glee for the longest time. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it’s an exciting show that outlines the lives of high school kids joining the Glee club. It’s packed with singing, hilarious lines, and not to mention the ever-so-drool-worthy Glee club teacher, Mr. Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison). Anywho, last night’s show was another fabulous episode. This time, we heard Emma (Jayma Mays), who plays the school’s guidance counselor, sing for the very first time. Her rendition of “I Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady was so charming and she looked so elegant doing so in her wedding dress. Agreed? Are there any other Glee fans out there? Would love to hear from you!

On this week’s episode Rufus and Lily finally said “I do” in an intimate wedding that was very them. You may remember Season 2′s wedding with Lily and Bart, which was the social event of the season. This time around was totally different. Read the rest of this entry »

Pricey Presents

Q: We would love to include electronics in our registry, but we were wondering if there’s a feature that exists (on any registry) that would allow our guests to put in an amount of their choice, and not the full amount? For example, if we have a $1,700 Plasma TV on our registry, guests can put in any amount—their contribution towards the purchase of that TV. We don’t expect them to buy us that TV per se, just contribute towards it. Read the rest of this entry »
