The Ultimate Honeymoon: Badrutt’s Palace, Switzerland

{Badrutt’s Palace Hotel}

This summer I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful country of Switzerland. It was my first time to Europe and definitely won’t be my last. What struck me most about Switzerland was how beautiful the landscape is. The snow-capped mountains (yes, even in summer) literally made you think you’re looking like a painting. Then you have cute villages with gingerbread-like homes, pristine lakes, and bustling cities (like Zurich and Basel). I didn’t have the chance to visit the luxe and legendary destination of St. Moritz, known for its skiing, as much as it is known for its notable guests (think royalty and celebrities), but think it would be a perfect honeymoon destination. So where do the rich and famous stay? Badrutt’s Palace Hotel is one of those places A-listers flock to and have been for decades.  Read the rest of this entry »

Going to the Moon with my Honey

In my last post, I shared some of our travel photos and wrote about how Ger and I are the most in sync when we are on one of our adventures. The thing we always look forward to most is travelling. We’ve both done a fair bit of travelling, but there is still so much of the world we want to see. We love being exposed to new foods, cultures, traditions…the whole shebang. Here are some of our dream destinations: Read the rest of this entry »

Cottage Life

wbmay09_fishingI should start this blog by saying goodbye, as this will be my last post on Weddingbells.ca.

It has been six months of writing fun for me. I didn’t realize how enjoyable it would be to make fun of my husband each week!  Lol, kidding babe. But seriously, I do hope that you all got in a few laughs on our behalf, because if there’s one thing I wanted to share in regards to married life, it’s that sometimes you just have to laugh at yourselves. Believe me, I laugh at Tad all the time and it really helps me from going wife-zilla on his ass!

Most of all, this blog has made me realize how much I love to write—something that I will continue to pursue, as long as there are people willing to read. :)

Now, for one more laugh… Read the rest of this entry »

Montreal Getaway

wbmay09_rimatadTravel tops my list on what I would do if I won the lottery. Tad’s choice would be to buy a cottage where he can go fishing whenever he wants to. But lucky for me, he also appreciates the city side of life. So, this past long-weekend we drove up to Montreal and had a fabulous time! Read the rest of this entry »

Destination Giving

Your wedding is one of the few times in your life when you are allowed to be a bit self-centred…well, at least your friends and family will let you get away with it. That said, we live in a world where it’s important to be mindful of more than just your own personal universe and realize that giving back is a blessing. Why not channel some of your “wedding love” into a better cause?

Made-to-Order Romance

I just read a feature in the Toronto Star, which profiled one of the sweetest gigs in the travel industry today: the romance concierge. It seems more and more resorts now have a Cupid on the payroll, a special someone who is professionally in the know about romance and exactly what it takes to make it happen while staying at their resort property.
