When you think of Swarovski crystals, you think of sparkle, right? So it only makes sense that Swarovski would take this as their starting point when setting out to create a signature scent. In partnership with the Clarins Fragrance Group, Swarovski developed the aptly named Aura, “a luminous fragrance, which is light and feminine. Described as a fruity floral, Aura is a complex combination of amber, white musk, lychee, white tuberose and pink pepper that would be an ideal choice for your wedding day! In addition to the fragrance (and accompanying body products), Swarovski has also created two lip glosses and a body shimmer that come packaged in crystal-adorned pendants. If you’re still searching for bridesmaids’ gifts these would be perfect! All the new releases will be available this August at Swarovski boutiques and The Bay across Canada.

Swarovski’s Style Suite
Toronto’s film fest (which officially opened last night) is now in full swing, and one of the most entertaining things to do at this time of year—besides seeing one of the featured films, obviously!—is visiting one of the many celebrity gift lounges around town. This morning I was invited to check out Swarovski’s suite at the Four Seasons where stylists and starlets drop in to borrow jewellery and accessories for all the festival’s red-carpet events. Wedding Belle: A Fresh-Faced Bride
Bride: Nicki Apostle
Wedding Date: July 11, 2010
Wedding Location: Whistler, British Columbia
Wedding Style: Nicki was a natural stunner in her ivory, sweetheart gown that featured a pretty Swarovski belt to emphasize her waist. An a-line style skirt revealed a pair of sparkling and glamorous peep-toe Jimmy Choos—Nicki calls them “a hint of glamour in an otherwise classic and elegant theme.” Her brown hair was loosely pulled back into a tousled updo, revealing a gorgeous pair of Swarovski chandelier earrings. Instead of wearing a veil in her hair, Nicki pinned a dazzling large hairpin on the side of her updo. She carried a classic bouquet made up of white roses held together by a silk, white ribbon. As for her makeup, Nicki says her makeup artist “created a romantic, timeless look in shades of brown and gold.” This gold and elegant theme continued to carry throughout Nicki’s bridal party as her bridesmaids donned strapless, silk dresses in shimmering gold, while groomsmen had a hint of gold in their tie patterns.

Anna Paquin’s Diamond Wedding Necklace
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer of True Blood fame tied the knot over the weekend. Paquin, who wore a halter gown, also donned a stunning 50-carat diamond bib necklace from Neil Lane. She kept the rest of her accessories simple — diamond studs (also by Neil Lane) and a wedding band created by friend Cathy Waterman (who also helped design her engagement ring). According to People.com, Paquin’s mom also got to don some Neil Lane jewels wearing both a bracelet and earrings. Want a bib necklace like Paquin, but don’t have a celebrity budget? I have found two similar versions that are much more affordable and just as pretty. Read the rest of this entry »

Monika Schnarre’s Wedding!
She’s featured in the current issue of Weddingbells and was one of our first covergirls back in 1986. Canada’s first supermodel Monika Schnarre and Weddingbells definitely have a history and we could not be happier to share photos of her wedding day with you. Monika and her groom Storey Badger were married in a gorgeous celebration August 6, 2010 in Muskoka, Ontario. Her dress was created by Canadian designer and friend Lucian Matis and Monika says the two worked together to create her perfect gown. “Lucian completely understood what I was looking for and I was thrilled with the result,” Monika shared with me. Wedding Belle: Charming & Fun
Bride: Leana DiClemente
Wedding Date: October 10, 2009
Wedding Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Wedding Style: Leana’s wedding style was fun and charming during her autumn wedding. Her perfectly fitted trumpet-style gown was made of lace and tulle over taffeta and had elegant lace straps. Silver embroidery, Swarovski crystals and a corset lace-up back added even more charming detail to the gown. In addition to being naturally charming Leana says, “I wanted the day to be fun and easy and my dress was light and easy to move and dance in!” In theme with this fun day, Leana held a bouquet of bright orange roses with the stems wrapped in gold, making it feel like a true fall wedding. This beauty kept her makeup natural looking with focus on the eyes and a touch of dark pink on the lips. Choosing not to wear a veil, Leana wore her brown tresses down and curly but pulled back from her face to reveal a pair of fabulous chandelier earrings made of Swarovski beads and crystals. Leana’s best girls wore fun and flirty black cocktail dresses and her groom wore a gold vest under his tux, in keeping with the gold, white and black theme.

Wedding Belle: A Sophisticated Beach Bride
Bride: Melissa Kampman
Wedding Date: February 3, 2010
Wedding Location: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Wedding Style: Melissa was the perfect beach bride, as she balanced the relaxed and casual feel of a beach wedding with a touch of class. Her flowy, chiffon gown had a dramatic plunging neckline with crystal detailing and looked spectacular along the bright backdrop of the tropics. She wore Jimmy Choo kitten-heeled sandals that were adorned with Swarovski crystals and she “absolutely loved them!” Melissa turned an old rhinestone necklace that belonged to her grandmother into a headband–definitely her most treasured piece. “It meant a lot to me to wear something that was hers,” she said. This bride did her own makeup after taking lessons at home and looked natural and flawless (even under the blazing sun!). The rest of her bridal party complimented her style and the vibrant colours of the tropics as the bridesmaids dawned flowing, fuchsia dresses and the groomsmen wore casual, linen pants.
The Look: Bridal gown, Maggie Sottero (maggiesottero.com) from Alliance Bridal (alliancebridal.com). Ceremony and Reception, Majestic Colonial Punta Cana (majestic-resorts.com). Hair, Spa Majestic Elegance Hotel Punta Cana.
