Runway Review: Romona Keveza

This Romona Keveza creation would be perfect for a garden wedding.

Last April I had the pleasure of meeting Romona Keveza at bridal market in New York, and it was great to catch up with her here on Canadian soil! After debuting her latest collection in Toronto—to a standing ovation no less—we met backstage for a chat (stay tuned for an upcoming video!). Romona expressed her desire to create classic, simple silhouettes with a difference: couture embellishments (rose petals, feathers, sparkle) and colour! I instantly fell in love with her wedding gowns in pale shades of peach, blush pink and Tiffany blue. Read the rest of this entry »

Dream Dresses

Vera Wang’s Fall 2011 gowns have arrived! And this year they’re more dreamy and gorgeous than ever.  From sleek and elegant styles to the most romantic A-line dresses, you’re bound to find a gown that you’ll instantly fall in love with. My personal fave is this strapless sweetheart mermaid gown with asymmetrically pleated bodice and cut organza blossom hem with blizzard beading–simply stunning! Peruse through these 11, and let me know which one you’d don for your big day. P.s. do you love the hair? Vera Wang did a quick post on her hair inspiration–scroll to the bottom to read more about it. Read the rest of this entry »

Oh, Oscar!

This morning I couldn’t stop swooning over Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2011 collection, which was packed with a flurry of gorgeous and romantic dresses. One of my personal faves (though there were many) was this peony silk organza and gold leaf embroidered ruffle gown. I fell head over heels for it and immediately felt inspired to create an inspiration board–perfect for all you romantic brides. As for the rest of Oscar’s beautiful frocks, here’s a few that could definitely be considered wedding-worthy! What do you think? Which of these gowns would you don on your wedding day?

short and sweet dresses

Although the Spring 2011 bridal runways were overflowing with long and beautiful gowns, I couldn’t help but noticed Amsale’s cute Little White Dress set. Love! Love! Love! I like the idea of taking the alternative route of wearing something short and elegant–you can even switch from a long frock to a little white dress for your evening reception. As Amsale has on their website–watch out Little Black Dress indeed!

Would You Wear This Dress?

wboct09_blush1_325x500

Oohh we’ve been getting more and more runway images in from the bridal shows. And, let me tell you, the dresses that we’ve seen so far are simply BEAUTIFUL! We can’t wait to share them with you all. But, aside from the elegant and classic silhouettes like this stunning one from Blush, we see plenty of modern takes to the wedding gown. I’m curious to know, which of these dresses would most appeal to you? Or, better yet, would you wear them? Read the rest of this entry »

From the Runway

wboct09_douglas
It’s been a hectic week for us–we’re in the midst of finishing the magazine and tracking down all the gorgeous runway photos from bridal fashion week in New York last weekend. Amongst all the gowns this one (above) from Douglas Hannant caught my eye. It looks so romantic, even if it is a bit more on the simpler side, but dressed with a pretty accessory (maybe a chunky necklace) any bride would look stunning. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this dress, do you think it’s too plain or just perfect?

While looking for dresses to feature in our next issue, I’ve been encountering a lot of marvellous minis. This is hardly surprising as they were all over the bridal runways this season. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the short wedding gown as a great option for a less traditional ceremony or as something to slip into when it’s time to party. Not to mention that a flirty, knee-length frock is a fabulous way to show off a stunning pair of shoes! Read the rest of this entry »
