Day 8

Well, miracles do happen. Mid-afternoon at the office having already;

a) Contacted the seamstress to sort out a follow-up fitting.

b) Dispatched a friend to search for soy-based candles.

c) Determined that my stationer does not have time to make menu cards and table markers.

d) Paid the balance on the porta-potties (last minute addition: a curtain to conceal units parked in driveway from road).

e) Attempted to confirm a hair and makeup artist for the day.

Take a Mini-Break

You know what I did this past weekend? I was a guest in my own city! I live about 40 minutes outside Toronto city limits and decided this weekend, I needed to check out of home and into a quiet, no-stress zone (it has been a crazy time at Weddingbells lately, and I just needed to get away). So the boyfriend and I packed up the show Saturday afternoon and took a short cruise down the highway to the historic Fairmont Royal York (fairmont.com) and voila…peace, serenity and pampering found. What did we do once there?

Bathing Beauty

For me, a bath is a daily luxury. The tub is where I seem to solve all the world’s problems, soaking away any stress and worry that have built up during the day. The difference for me between a good bath and a great one is the products I fill my tub with. Typically I love a good sudsy soak, but I just tried some new luxury bath salts that I know are going to be a long-time favourite. India Hicks Island Living Spider Lily Bath Salt ($36, crabtree-evelyn.com) is a blend of Epsom, sea salts and tropical oils that makes my bathroom smell like a Caribbean island and makes my muscles feel like they’ve had a one-hour Lomi Lomi massage.

“Me” Time

Are you taking enough “me time” during your busy planning process? Here’s five easy ways to get it.

Thankfully Farch (a new term I recently read to describe the collective grey months of February and March) is just about a wrap. The calendar now officially says spring, and it won’t be long until the Easter bunny arrives and my tulips rear their pretty heads. I’ve found over the last few weeks, I have been feeling particularly Farchy—a little blue, a little lethargic and a little desperate for sun and fun. I’ve been particularly crazed at work, stressed about deadlines and future projects…this has only added to my Farchiness. In times like these, I find I need to up my usual quota of “me time.” I need to be extra good to myself to lift my mood and make me forget about whatever it is that’s making me Farchy.
