Current Obsession: Macaroon Cakes

I’m back in the office today after some fantastic adventures in London and Paris. Post Royal Wedding, I hopped on the Eurostar to Paris to enjoy a few gorgeous warm spring days in one of my favourite cities. I’ve concluded that everything lovely and luxe in life is French and quite frankly I couldn’t get enough of it. One of my musts while in Paris of course is a stop (or two, or three) at the famous Ladurée to pick up some of their otherworldly macaroons. Read the rest of this entry »

Current obsession: Laura Dowling

Just when I thought I’ve seen it all, I come across something so awe-inspiring that I feel the urge to share with you ASAP. I’ve heard of Laura Dowling before (I’ve even featured some of her work), but it was only last week that I was able to really peruse through this florists’ portfolio. The minute I clapped eyes on her arrangements, I knew that there was something quite extraordinary about them–has a very je ne sais quoi feeling (funny because she studied in Paris and brought back her knowledge to Washington, where she is currently located). All her creations reflect a very couture-like floral design, a different aspect that you may not be used to, but will love nonetheless.

Yesterday The Toronto Star published a great article on Toronto’s trendiest cookie in town–the French macaron. Indeed it has been trendy, but not for many Parisians as it is their quintessential French sweet. If you ever head to Paris, I’m told Laduree is macaron mecca. Read the rest of this entry »

Argentina Bound

WBDec09_buenosairesShortly after Christmas I’ll be travelling way down south to Argentina—its capital, Buenos Aires is often referred to as the “Paris of South America” and is also a very cool honeymoon destination. Buenos Aires will be the first stop and also the place where I’ll be ringing in the New Year. Read the rest of this entry »
