Gift for the Groom

Courtesy mybearsshop.com.

Only a few more weeks to go until the big day!  I feel like we’ve accomplished a lot over the last few weeks but one major thing still left to think about—the groom’s gift!

Because Bojan and I have been together for so long, we often don’t bother getting each other major birthday or Christmas gifts. But our wedding day is totally different. While I know that Bojan will appreciate any gift I give to him, this is the time to get him something special that he’s always wanted. Unlike Christmases and birthdays which come and go every year, a wedding is a once in a lifetime event.

I am a firm believer in spending money on experiences rather than material things. Some of the best times we’ve shared are when we’ve travelled! To this end, I’ve narrowed my gift down to a few choices (don’t worry, Bojan won’t be reading this!). Read the rest of this entry »

Bridal Market: Amsale Bridesmaids

Beautiful blue on an Amsale bridesmaid.

In my last entry, I blogged about my dress obsession, and I thought I’d share some more stylish bridesmaids’ options with you today. Amsale’s bridal collection is always a highlight of New York bridal market, and her bridesmaid collection is equally on point. To the appropriate tune of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun,” models strutted their stuff in simply chic silhouettes in a beautiful colour palette of blues and purples. Read the rest of this entry »

Bridal Market: Kenneth Pool

At Kenneth Pool I had a wonderful seat at the end of the runway that enabled me to see the gowns before everyone else and to watch the models as they prepared to strut down the catwalk! It was really exciting watching them adjusting their gowns and shaking off their nerves as they waited for the producer to give them their cue. Read the rest of this entry »

NYC Honeymoon Hotel: The Algonquin

I’m heading to New York this week for my bi-annual sojourn to check out the latest registry goodies at the spring tableware market. I always love seeing the newest gems from the likes of Denby, Royal Doulton, Wedgwood, Portmerion, etc. This trip I’m extra-stoked because I’m staying for the first time at the historic Algonquin hotel. Bridal Market: Romona Keveza

First stop on my whirlwind tour of Bridal Market in New York was Romona Keveza, who was showing her Couture and Legends collections. In a gorgeous suite at the swank Palace Hotel, branches of blooming white cherry blossoms set the scene for a collection that was all about new beginnings. The Couture line, which is definitely for the fashion-forward bride, was filled with interesting shapes and details. I especially loved the one-shoulder dresses with architectural ruffles. The Rise of the French Macaron

Yesterday The Toronto Star published a great article on Toronto’s trendiest cookie in town–the French macaron. Indeed it has been trendy, but not for many Parisians as it is their quintessential French sweet. If you ever head to Paris, I’m told Laduree is macaron mecca. Read the rest of this entry »
