A New York Must

New York’s The Plaza is one of the world’s most amazing hotels famed for it’s history, luxury and impeccable service. It is also the famous home of to Eloise, one of the most famous little ladies in children’s literature. Six-year-old Eloise lives in the “room on the tipp-topy floor” of The Plaza with her Nanny, pug dog Weenie and her turtle Skipperdee. In December, the hotel opened the doors to the new Eloise at The Plaza Shop and it’s absolutely darling. When I saw the pictures I just had to share them—do you not just want to live there?! If you’re heading to NYC plan a stop at the shop to soak in it’s whimsy. Better yet…why not have a luxe urban honeymoon at The Plaza and live like Eloise herself. Personally, I love that idea.

Kelly Ripa’s Wedding Gown

Photography courtesy ABC.

Photography courtesy ABC.

When Kelly Ripa said “I do” to husband Mark Consuelos, it wasn’t in a wedding gown. The two nixed a big celebration and instead eloped to Vegas in 1996 after secreting dating for a year (they met on the set of All My Children). It wasn’t until a few weeks ago Kelly finally got her chance to wear a big white dress on Regis & Kelly courtesy of Project Runway’s Season 6 winner. Read the rest of this entry »

Lights Please

wboct09_lantern_330x500

Wow! Check out this amazing lantern display from Tavern on the Green in New York City. Our in-house multimedia producer Kyle (he edits all our videos and listens to our voices day in and day out) went to NYC last week to do a documentary with Ed Norton (yeah I know, what is his life!) for the NYC marathon. Anywho, while he was there, he also took a few snapshots of Tavern on the Green (this famous and luxurious restaurant smack dab in the middle of Central Park). As soon as I saw this gorge display I had to share. Love the blue twinkle lights and the hanging Chinese lanterns. It adds such pizzazz to any atmosphere and immediately sets the tone for a romantic evening.

From the Runway

wboct09_douglas
It’s been a hectic week for us–we’re in the midst of finishing the magazine and tracking down all the gorgeous runway photos from bridal fashion week in New York last weekend. Amongst all the gowns this one (above) from Douglas Hannant caught my eye. It looks so romantic, even if it is a bit more on the simpler side, but dressed with a pretty accessory (maybe a chunky necklace) any bride would look stunning. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this dress, do you think it’s too plain or just perfect?

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring….

"This is shopping weather," says my Cheeky Umbrella.

"This is shopping weather," says my Cheeky Umbrella.

That’s the forecast for the next five days in Toronto and never in my life did I think I would say this, but bring it! The reason I’m doing a rain dance: I’m itching to bust out the cutest new umbrella which landed at my desk courtesy of the lovely Jen Zurowski owner of North Vancouver’s Cheeky Umbrella.
