Runway to Wedding Day Makeup Inspiration at 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2012

This just in, more beauty inspiration from New York Fashion Week ruwnays. Today we’re loving this soft, simple and ethereal look created by Francelle for NARS at 3.1 Phillip Lim . The look was all about metallic eyes and pink lips…a perfect wedding makeup combo! Try a dramatic slick of silver shadow on lids and a couple coats of black mascara to add definition. Keep skin glowy with illuminator on the cheeks and just a hint of colour on the lips. Key NARS products used by Francelle included: Paris Duo Eyeshadow, Night Life Single Eyeshadow, The Mulitple in Copacabana Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara and Desire Blush on lips.

BRIDAL BEAUTY 411: NARS The Multiple in Laguna has been a cult favourite for years and it’s latest incarnation is a liquid that is a cinch to use and looks like a dream on skin. Apply all over face before foundation and powder for a beautiful sheen, or use it as a highlighter on cheeks and brow bones to give skin bounce.

Redheads Rock the Oscars

Nicole Kidman was my choice for Best Beauty, but I wanted to share a couple of runners up, both of whom are also titian-tressed lovelies and both who also happened to be primped by the NARS team. Love This Lip!

Fall fashion is in the air, which means new beauty trends too, and I am all over them. This shot crossed my desk from the NARS press team highlighting the look showcased at the Honor Fall 2011 show at New York Fashion Week. I love the shock of orange on the eyes (a wicked combo of NARS Exhibit A Blush, Taj Mahal Blush and Red Squre Velvet Matte Lip Pencil just in case you’re wondering), but it was the soft, muted pink lip that really rocked me. What an amazing choice for your wedding day—just a hint of barely there colour that’s girly, feminine and very, very mod. Get the look with NARS Roman Holiday Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($30).

This one is for the beauty lovers in the crowd. On your next visit to the Big Apple (romantic getaway, girls weekend, honeymoon, etc) a visit to NARS new flagship store is a must. François Nars himself was on hand to cut the ribbon of his sleek boutique in the West Village this past Wednesday. The boutique is a beauty junkie’s paradise of NARS products and even has a few in-store exclusives like the amazing 413 Bleecker Pure Matte Lipstick ($30), a name derived from the store’s address. This lippy makes for an amazing (and affordable) NYC souvenir.

Beauty Crush: Red Lips

Red alert: YSL Rouge Volupté No. 17.

It’s all about the bold lip for spring, with juicy tangerine, watermelon and vivid fuchsia making beauty headlines. Red is also back, big time, and to me nothing says dress up and glamour like a sizzling scarlet lip. If red is a colour you love to wear, than absolutely put it on your wedding day must list—it’s sexy and seductive and look especially hot with a white dress. I have a few favourite red lippies in my arsenal (NARS Red Lizard, MAC Russian Red, Clinique Cranberry Cream Buttershine Lipstick), but was have been coveting a new one, so I tweeted Toronto makeup artist Grace Lee for suggestions. The credentials: a bombshell red lipstick that was smooth and creamy, matte. She offered a few gorgeous options like YSL Rouge Volupté No. 16 or 17 (pictured); and MAC Cherry lip pencil topped with Lady Danger lipstick. I can’t wait to try these picks!
