Wedding Movie Alert: The Romantics

Opening in select theatres tomorrow–The Romantics, filled with an all-star cast including Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Adam Brody, Elijah Wood, Dianna Agron and Candice Bergen, looks like an altogether romantic film filled with lots of laughs and major drama. Based on the novel “The Romantics” by Galt Niederhoffer, the film follows seven close friends who reunite for a wedding of their two close friends. However, the plot thickens as problems arise between the bride (Anna Paquin) and the maid of honour (Katie Holmes) who have a long-standing rivalry over the groom (John Duhamel). Sounds spicy! Watch the trailer above for a preview.

Bonus: J. Crew collaborated with the celebs (sans Anna Paquin) to create a fun photo shoot. These three are my faves–the cupcake shot especially!

SATC2: Fashion, Fun & A Girl’s Night Out

Charles Eshelman/FilmMagic/Getty Images

Last night in New York City the girls of Sex and the City hit the red carpet for the premiere of the second installation of the über popular series. Tons of celeb fans came out to support including The City‘s Whitney Port, Becki Newton, Gossip Girl‘s Jessica Szohr, and even the recently retired Valentino. Patricia Field fans know (she’s the brilliant costume designer behind the ladies looks), that it’s all about her costumes in the movie – I mean personally I think the fashion is a character all on its own. But for the premiere all four stars opted for pretty, yet fashionably-speaking safe gowns. Read the rest of this entry »

Stop and Smell the Roses…

Joseph and I enjoying a day of skiing!

With everything going on—building our house and planning the wedding and honeymoon, it feels like that is all we talk about. Joseph’s been working long hours, I’ve been trying to make sure we don’t forget to book anything, and it’s starting to wear down on us.

I had read some good advice about going out together and not talking about the wedding. Lately it didn’t seem possible. It really starts to consume your everyday life! Especially as you get close to the date.

Between his work schedule we finally got to plan a night out, on the anniversary of our first date. And it wasn’t even hard to not talk about it for the evening. It was very refreshing and some much needed fun and time together. I highly recommend anyone feeling a bit stressed out should definitely plan a night where you don’t talk about any of that “stuff.”  It really did us both a lot of good. Contest: The Wedding Singer

**CONTEST HAS CLOSED**

Thank you to all who entered, but the contest has now closed. Jenn Kenter is the lucky winner who will get to see the musical comedy this week!!

Who wants to see The Wedding Singer?! I’m sure you’re all pretty familiar with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore’s silver screen rendition. But, have you heard about the musical comedy? I just got wind that they are making their way to town (Toronto that is) this March, and will be playing at The Richmond Hill Centre on March 10th and 11th. We were lucky enough to score 2 pairs of tickets for the March 11th show to give away. If you’ve never seen the movie or heard about it, here’s the 411:

Laugh out loud as wannabe rock star Robbie Hart is everyone’s favorite wedding singer. He’s the life of the party until he gets jilted at the altar. So he vows to make every wedding as disastrous as his own. But then he meets Julia, a waitress who wins his heart – but she’s already engaged to a Wall Street shark! Can he win her heart before she says “I Do” or will it be too late?

It’s totally 80s from big hair to Billy Idol! If you love weddings and remember skinny ties, shoulder pads and leg warmers, you’ll fall in love with The Wedding Singer.

Could be a fun date night for you and your mister, or even a girls night with your MOH. Here’s how to enter:

An Epic Save-the-Date

When it comes to the wedding details some couples are getting creative. Really creative. One couple, Jeff and Erin, really took it to the next level, turning their save-the-date into a movie trailer. If you haven’t seen their video on YouTube, you have to check it out. My favourite part: “She was looking for Mr. Right, but found Mr. Wong.”

It’s Complicated

wbjan10_croissant_400x250

Apologies for the late post today, it’s our first day back in the office and everyone has been catching up with each other. How was yours? I sense tons of engagements over the holidays!

Anywho, back to my morning chat with the girls. One major thing that I did over the break was catch up on movies and television shows galore. For TV, I’m currently hooked on Chuck and FlashForward. As for movies, I saw Brothers, Avatar and It’s Complicated. Have any of you seen It’s Complicated–starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin? It is hilarious! I won’t give anything away, but what I will share with you, are the delicious chocolate croissants that I spotted from the movie.

Gone with the Wind

WBNov09_GonewiththeWindI finally saw one of the most romantic and epic films of all time at a private screening at The Hazelton Hotel. If you haven’t seen the flick, I urge you to take an evening and do so. While it’s not short (running time is just under four hours), it has won 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, and it contains some of the most famous movie quotes of all time, including, “Frankly dear, I don’t give a damn,” and “You should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how,” both said by Rhett Butler played by the dashing Clark Gable.
