For spring, beauty looks showcased on runways were vast and varied running the gamut from colourful lips, to wet-look hair and glittery metallic eyes. While all trends don’t translate into wedding-day-appropriate looks, there are some, which are perfect—here three we’re all about.

How to Wear Glitter on Your Wedding Day
Every girl wants to sparkle on her wedding day, but when it comes to glitter, you can definitely have too much of a good thing. Katy Perry is known for her love of sparkle, and definitely gets the makeup look right here with her starry silver eyes. Yesterday I had David Vincent, international makeup artist for Lise Watier, in the office introducing me to the company’s beautiful (and very glittery) holiday 2011 collection. Some beautiful things will be on counters at the end of October including: Shimmering Gold Powder ($29); Liquid Gold illuminator ($25); dramatic Eye Glitter Liner in Black Orchid; and a star product Neiges Poudre De Diamants ($42), a silver shimmer powder scented with Lise Watier’s signature scent Neiges. When discussing the fact that many women overdo glitter, Vincent shared a few savvy tips on how to wear it well. “Don’t wear it from head to toe; make it subtle and sexy” Vincent says, saying he loves the look of glitter on they eyes and across the shoulders and decolleté. “Also, when deciding what shade to wear, I always like harmonizing the colour with accessories—wearing gold with gold, and silver with silver. gold with gold, and silver with silver. It just creates a more unified and beautiful finish.” You’ve been told my pretties, now shine on.

3 Fall Beauty Trends, Bridalized
Runways are a huge source of style inspiration for us and should be for you too when it comes to your wedding look. Specifically we love analyzing the best in beauty and suggesting how you can wear the key seasonal trends on you wedding day. To transform the looks from runway to wedding day friendly, we asked Eddie Malter, official makeup artist for L’Oreal Paris in Canada (and the creative genius behind more than 25 runway looks at the Toronto’s LG Fashion Week for fall 2011) for help. Here’s his three hot trend picks.

How To Avoid A Makeup Meltdown
In the heat of summer keeping your look in place can sometimes be a bit labour-intensive. And the last thing you want to deal with on your wedding day is smudged mascara. To cut down on the touch-ups, we went to celebrity makeup artist Alena Klenot for some advice on how to keep wedding day makeup in place during the stickiest months of the year.
Your first step
“Prep work is necessary,” says Klenot. “It allows you to start with a fresh palette.” She recommends going for a facial a few days before your big event or a deep moisturizing treatment if your skin is dry.
Your skin
Before applying any makeup Klenot recommends starting with a gel moisturizer, which will be lighter in the hot weather and cut down on shine. The next step is primer. Klenot recommends applying primer not just on your face, but also on lips and lids to keep keep all of your makeup in place. During the summer months she advises going with a light powder foundation rather than a heavy liquid product. “And always keep blotting papers on hand to keep shine in check,” she adds.
Your eyes
Opt for powdery shadows and liquid liners rather than cream formulations and pencils that might smudge, says Klenot. If you’re wearing mascara Klenot recommends a waterproof product that will withstand the waterworks. She also says false lashes can be a great alternative (black is her go-to shade). “Whether they are strip or individual lashes, false eyelashes mean you can have a tear in your eye and your makeup won’t be affected at all,” says Klenot. If you have blonde lashes she recommends tinting them black a few days before your wedding.
Your lips
“When applying lipstick think: primer, lipstick, powder, lipstick,” says Klenot. Primer and powder will hold the first layer of product in place and a second layer of lipstick will ensure your colour lasts through the day. You can add gloss after the final lipstick application but go for an understated gloss. “In the summer you’ll have a natural, dewy glow so lay off the sparkly products,” says Klenot.

Swarovski to Launch First Fragrance
When you think of Swarovski crystals, you think of sparkle, right? So it only makes sense that Swarovski would take this as their starting point when setting out to create a signature scent. In partnership with the Clarins Fragrance Group, Swarovski developed the aptly named Aura, “a luminous fragrance, which is light and feminine. Described as a fruity floral, Aura is a complex combination of amber, white musk, lychee, white tuberose and pink pepper that would be an ideal choice for your wedding day! In addition to the fragrance (and accompanying body products), Swarovski has also created two lip glosses and a body shimmer that come packaged in crystal-adorned pendants. If you’re still searching for bridesmaids’ gifts these would be perfect! All the new releases will be available this August at Swarovski boutiques and The Bay across Canada.

Bridal Beauty Pick of the Week
I’ve decided to dedicated my Wednesday blogs to a beauty item I’m loving and that I think is essential for your wedding day (and most times your everyday) beauty kit. Kicking off my first post is a fabulous skin-fix.
WHAT: Clarins Flash Beauty Balm ($50 for 50ml)
WHY: Who doesn’t want brighter, tighter skin? This is especially essential in photographs and there’s probably no day in your life you’ll be snapped as much as on your wedding day. Beauty Flash Balm is a Clarins cult-classic, a silky elixir that you smooth (not rub!) on skin after cleansing and moisturizing to give the skin ‘bounce.’ Use it as a primer and apply makeup immediately after application, or use as a facial mask (apply a generous layer and tissue off after 15 minutes) to revive tired skin.
