It’s all about the bold lip for spring, with juicy tangerine, watermelon and vivid fuchsia making beauty headlines. Red is also back, big time, and to me nothing says dress up and glamour like a sizzling scarlet lip. If red is a colour you love to wear, than absolutely put it on your wedding day must list—it’s sexy and seductive and look especially hot with a white dress. I have a few favourite red lippies in my arsenal (NARS Red Lizard, MAC Russian Red, Clinique Cranberry Cream Buttershine Lipstick), but was have been coveting a new one, so I tweeted Toronto makeup artist Grace Lee for suggestions. The credentials: a bombshell red lipstick that was smooth and creamy, matte. She offered a few gorgeous options like YSL Rouge Volupté No. 16 or 17 (pictured); and MAC Cherry lip pencil topped with Lady Danger lipstick. I can’t wait to try these picks! Why not give one of Grace’s picks a go for your wedding day?

Bridal Makeup Tutorial
In the early stages of wedding planning I made a decision on something that seemed outrageous to some: I’ve decided to do my own wedding day makeup. How can I possibly have the courage to endeavour such a huge task? Simple: I enjoy and am actually obsessed with makeup application and products. This is kind of ironic and I’ll tell you why. Growing up in a predominately male family (two brothers and many male cousins), I was the girl that wore ripped jeans, T-shirts and runners and could be found chasing after my older brother: climbing trees, playing sports on the street and being the dummy for him to practice his wrestling moves on. Who would’ve thought that I would grow up loving anything remotely girly? You also couldn’t tell from looking at me that I enjoy playing with makeup since I run out of the house most days wearing glasses and not even a smidge of foundation. I’m not sure when I first became interested in makeup but I do know when it turned into an obsession—the year my BFFs gave me a M.A.C. gift card for my 20-something birthday. Ladies, I blame this all on you! Hehe, LOVE YOU! Read the rest of this entry »

Give me Liberty
The latest M.A.C. collaboration is a kaleidoscopic of psychedelic and pretty prints, from Liberty of London. Quintessentially English, Spring 2010 is “the ultimate flower fusion.” From the makeup to the whimical accessories, I’m dying for everything, even for just the packaging. Beauty Obsession: MAC Cosmetics

I am a MAC girl. Always have been and, probably, always will be. Don’t get me wrong, I love all other eyeshadow and eyeliners from other brands, but when it comes to foundations, blushes, concealers, and okay the occasional two to three eyeshadows, MAC’s my go-to beauty shop. Not to mention, they always come out with the cutest limited edition collection items, like that Hello Kitty set a few months back. My only dilemma is that they’re LIMITED. But, anywho, just received this recent release entitled MAC in Lillyland. Read the rest of this entry »
