Anybody watched Tangled over the weekend? Not giving away any spoilers by saying this, but there is a gorgeous and breathtaking scene filled with tons and tons of beautiful lanterns (pictured above). A Field Journal is by far one of the most inspiring and craftiest blogs we’ve spotted in awhile. Absolutely love everything. Their knack for creating easy yet pretty pieces makes it even more enticing for you to want to add a few DIY touches to your celebration. Three of my favourite DIY projects from this cute blog include (pictured above) the crepe bouquet (yes it’s hard to believe that gorgeous arrangement is entirely made out of paper), cocoa candy cane marshmallows (great for bridal showers) and tea light lanterns.

Wow! Check out this amazing lantern display from Tavern on the Green in New York City. Our in-house multimedia producer Kyle (he edits all our videos and listens to our voices day in and day out) went to NYC last week to do a documentary with Ed Norton (yeah I know, what is his life!) for the NYC marathon. Anywho, while he was there, he also took a few snapshots of Tavern on the Green (this famous and luxurious restaurant smack dab in the middle of Central Park). As soon as I saw this gorge display I had to share. Love the blue twinkle lights and the hanging Chinese lanterns. It adds such pizzazz to any atmosphere and immediately sets the tone for a romantic evening.

I seriously love this time of the year (although the weather over the last few weeks has been sort of odd). Regardless, I’m always so eager and ecstatic to see what other home decor stores are busting out for the summer. Decor stores are actually where I get a lot of my inspiration from. Pottery Barn in particular always has some amazing ideas, and although they are for the home, I can easily see their items being implemented into wedding celebrations. For example, I went online to check out a birthday gift for my mom (Happy Birthday Mom!) and thought that a potted plant is a pretty a neat alternative to having floral centrepieces. There’s something so earthy and calming about them. Another great idea would be adorning your tables with these chic and beach-like lanterns.

These canisters have a double use. I personally see them as an elegant way for guests to leave you a wish at the front of the reception room, in lieu of the traditional guestbook. Or, you could use them as vases to hold your candy favours in. The coolest part? You can have them monogrammed, so they’ll make for a nice wedding keepsake.

Having an outdoor ceremony? Surround your space with low bowls and fill them in candles similar to this image. It’ll add to the romantic atmosphere, especially during the night. Talk about mood lighting at its finest!
