Just over the weekend I read that Tom and Katie celebrated their third wedding anniversary in Boston. I can’t quite recall all the details, but I heard that Tom had rented out the whole second floor of some venue for a romantic dinner with the mrs. Afterwards, they went to Abe and Louie’s for dessert, where they reportedly indulged in a seven layer chocolate cake and key lime pie. I’ve never been to Abe and Louie’s for their dessert. But I’d imagine the cake and pie to look something scrumptious and delightful like this!

For the past several days I’ve been running around like crazy, sourcing dresses, jewels and suits…oh my…and I don’t know what I would do without my trusty ballet flats. While I am a constant admirer of haute high heels, they’re not really compatible with sidewalk grates and streetcar tracks! Besides, a great pair of flats can be perfectly polished and chic. Don’t believe me? Google Carla Bruni. The first lady of France has brought ballet flats back in a big way due to the fact that she’s taller than her mister, Nicholas Sarkozy. Speaking of which, Katie Holmes wore flat shoes at her wedding to Tom Cruise for the exact same reason. Which brings me around to the point of this entry, you should definitely consider an adorable pair of flats for your big day (and not just because you tower over your husband-to-be!). Ballet flats are comfortable and stylish. If you’re wearing heels for the ceremony, consider packing a pair of flats as backup…your feet will certainly thank you.
