Wedding Belle: A Fairytale Bride

Bride: Elaine Ma
Wedding Date:
August 28, 2010
Wedding Location:
Vancouver, British Columbia
Wedding Style:
Rivaling fairytale princesses everywhere, Elaine floats down the aisle in a white gown, fitted to the waist and floating away from the rest of the body into the perfect ballgown. Her jewel encrusted Jimmy Choo shoes matched her chandelier earrings, which mirrored the gowns’ vintage brooch at the waist. The large box pleats on both the top and bottom of the gown gave a contemporary twist to Elaine’s classic fairytale dress. Her smoky plum eye makeup echoes the deep purple of her best girls’ dresses and the bright and summery flowers in her bouquet. Her beautiful locks cascade down her back in soft curls and thoroughly complete her feminine look.
The Look:
Bridal gown: Amsale from Blush (blushoccasions.com). Flowers: Proline Trading (prolinetrading.com). Hair and makeup: Nadia Albano (nadiaalbano.com). Ceremony location: Holy Name Church, Vancouver. Reception location: Pacific Ballroom, The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (fairmont.com)

The Best of 2009!

wbjan10_12009_500x500

Oh what a year it has been! 2009 has certainly had its fair share of wonderful wedding ideas–pretty flowers, delicious cupcakes, gorgeous real weddings–the inspirations are literally endless. This being my last blog post for the year, I thought it only fitting to round up my TOP 5 most coveted wedding “inspirations” of the year–which I’m hoping will carry into 2010. Starting with #1 (pictured above)–white bouquets were mega for me this year. There’s something so classic and attractive about white bouquets that I can’t just seem to describe in words.

Cranberry Field

wboct09_cranberry1_350x500

You know, until now I’ve never known what a cranberry field looked like. Actually, to be quite honest (I’m a tad embarrassed), I didn’t even know that cranberry fields existed. Oops, I must have missed that lesson in school ^_^. Regardless, if you know about them or not, you’re in for a treat with today’s image. Long story short, this super cute couple from Vancouver chose the very vast and very red cranberry fields as the backdrop to their engagement photos. The result? Simply stunning photos, unlike some I’ve ever seen before. The photographer, Ellen Ho from Hong-Photography took the amazing shots, here’s what she had to say about them:

This is probably the most unique engagement photo session I’ve done so far! Talk about photographing–a beautiful cranberry field with the most down-to-earth couple in it! I’ve seen the Ocean Spray Cranberry cocktail commercial but never knew that this is actually how this is done! The flooding only happens for a short time and I am glad we actually made it when the weather was nice! Here are some highlights from the e-session!

Check out the gorgeous shot after the jump.

Vine Time

wbaug09_napa1_300x500

This week I’ve dedicated my posts to some pretty awesome weddings. And, to end the week on a high note, I’ve saved one of the best for last. This beautiful Napa Valley celebration was once again taken by the ever-so-talented Ellen Ho from Hong Photography. I don’t even know where to begin or how to describe all the inspiring ideas and details. From the blue hanging lanterns to the blue parasols to the blue floral arrangements created by Nancy Liu Chin design–everything just looked so darn pretty and put together. The couple, Vincent and Carmen, got hitched at Solage Hotel at Calistoaga–a wonderful venue surrounded by Napa’s finest vines. View more photos after the jump.

Mountaintop Wedding

wbaug09_ellen1_500x500

Wow! Wow! Wow! One of my fave photographers out west Ellen Ho from Hong Photography just posted this really amazing wedding that she shot at God’s Mountain Estate in Okanagan, BC. The theme of the wedding, the shots, the details–they’re so perfect that I had to share with you. The location was simply stunning. Really–a location surrounded by a vineyard, lake and mountain–could it get any better than that? View all the gorgeous photos after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
