Add A Golden Glow To Your Wedding

Every bride should feel like royalty on her wedding day, so why not add regal gold hues to your colour scheme? Choose a beauty look that will make you shine and complement it with understated gold jewellery. Lend luxury to your reception venue by using candles as centrepieces for a golden glow and decorate your sweet table with ore-inspired sweets like cakes affixed with edible gold leaf. Play up this glittery colour scheme with romantic shades of pink and champagne for a truly glamorous affair.

Gorgeous Hair and a Sparkly Shrug

I’m a sucker for anything sparkly and glittery. Our most recent issue of Weddingbells on page 28, entitled Glitterati, is proof of that. So, when I found this beautiful image from Le Chic Studio–I just had to share. Read the rest of this entry »

Florence & The White Carpet

Florence Welch steps out at the MTV Awards.

I’ll be the first to admit that the MTV Awards aren’t normally the first place you’d think to look for bridal inspiration (the fashion’s usually a bit too flashy), but I can’t stop thinking about Florence Welch’s look from the red carpet (or white carpet in this case!). Wedding Belle: Luxurious and Cultural

Bride: Hena Awan
Wedding Date:
October 10, 2009
Wedding Location:
Toronto, Ontario
Wedding Style:
Hena’s spectacular style consisted of three gorgeous dresses for three fantastic ceremonies. During Hena’s Nikkah (pre-wedding ceremony where vows are exchanged) Hena wore a bright yellow traditional Pakistani dress with exquisite silver and orange embellishments. A long see-through red veil draped over her head until she took it off to reveal her beautiful makeup. Yellow and orange eyeshadow matched her outfit perfectly, while her soft peach lips kept the eyes her main focus.
During Hena’s Mehendi (pre-wedding ceremony to get the couple ready for marriage) she stunned in a ravishing cultural outfit, which was dominated by plum purples, teals and magentas. The gorgeous embroidery and colours brought together all the hues of the Arabian themed ceremony. As for makeup, Hena says, “I remember asking her to go bold and wild with the eyes–and boy did she deliver!” Hena’s eyes were played up with a smoky cat eye look dominated by deep purples and dark greys. Her long, brown tresses were left loose in natural-looking waves.
During Hena’s wedding day, Hena wore a custom-designed traditional Pakistani bright red dress with plenty of dazzling gold embroidery and beading. She wore a veil of the same material and beading, along with a similar small purse. “I wanted to have an extremely traditional look on my wedding day,” Hena says. Her beautiful cultural look continued into the gold headpiece, bangles, chandelier earrings and chunky necklace she wore. This bride’s long brown hair was pulled away from her face into a braided knot bun to support her heavy veil. Hena’s bold and beautiful makeup consisted of dark, smoky eyes and fantastic red lips. Hena sought after a wedding inspired by the traditions of Mughal, India. “I wanted to look regal and give off the image of being in a palace.” Hena’s stunning and rich wedding style corresponded perfectly with the luxurious feeling of the ceremony, and Hena looked like true royalty!
