crazy for tokidoki

Since it’s still a holiday I thought I’d take a mini-break from posting cakes and flowers and bridal things to focus on these cute tokidoki items (okay perhaps they’d be cute bridal party ideas for the little ones in your entourage). On Friday, the girls went to the mall and came back with some exciting news about an ice cream figurine that they spotted from tokidoki–who recently launched a line at Sephora.

Sadly, to no avail, did I find it–BUT can I say how cute their other characters are? Nicole is obsessed with (don’t laugh) Bastardino this little green character.

Whereas I can’t get enough of Ciao Ciao, who FYI is ADIOS’ (another fun character) girlfriend and is part of the ‘Til Death Do Us Part line.

The packaging for their beauty products (hoping to pick up a few on the way home tomorrow) are too adorable, fingers crossed the makeup is just as good.

1000 awesome things

Ever since I heard about 1000 Awesome Things, I’ve been trying to spread the word to anyone and everyone. It’s such a brilliant concept. Basically, 1000 Awesome Things is a time-ticking countdown of 1000 awesome things. Launched June, 2008 and updated every weekday. As one reviewer said it, “A lovingly beautiful blog. It’s like being a three- or four-year-old and looking at the world for the first time again. Read it and you’ll feel good about being human.”. So true. Whenever you feel stressed from wedding planning take a break to read a few excerpts–it’s guaranteed to uplift your mood. Here are a few of my favourites from the 1000 list:

#994 Waiters and waitresses who bring free refills without asking

#986 When you pull to a red light and the guy in front of you nudges up a bit so you can make a right turn

#514 Seeing a license plate from really far away in your home town

#527 The night before a really big day

#530 Listening to couples tell you how they met

#538 Laughing so hard you start crying

#547 Finding treasures in your Spring jacket pocket

#552 When you went to the gym yesterday

#572 Learning a new keyboard shortcut

#577 Looking at the clock and seeing that it’s 12:34

#627 When your friends working in fast food restaurants give you a little extra

#635 When the hiccups stop

#687 Turning off all the lights during a thunderstorm

Andddd I have hundreds of others to recommend. But I don’t want to spoil the fun, you’ll have to go to the site (or buy the book) to read more awesome ideas. Enjoy!

Ooh Cabaret…

To me, finding inspiring ideas to share with you ladies is one of the best parts of my job. I really love stepping outside of the box and looking at “non-bridal” ideas and incorporating them into your wedding day, which is why you’re in for a treat with today’s exquisite post. Lori from The Caketress e-mailed me these “GORGEOUS” photos. Inspired by the “Truffle” dress from Cabaret (a Toronto-based shop), Lori and the talented team from Rowell Photography met up and had a fun collaboration. If you’re stuck on a cake design, this is definitely one unique way to brainstorm for your own confection. Check out the images.

Let Her Eat Cake

wbjan10_3cake_500x500

Whoa mama! This is by far the insanest wedding-cake-turned-wedding-dress creation that I have seen. Created by Lukka Sigurdardottir, the pro has somehow managed to fit a gazillion of layers into the cake. Not that I’d recommend any bride to do this, but multitude of cake flavours from within does have a great appeal to me. What do you all think of this extreme idea? Hmm, I wonder how long this took to make.

Just for Fun: If Super Mario Had a Wedding…

wbjan10_mario1_400x400

We’re a bit obsessed with Super Mario right now, or shall I say we’re a “Wii” crazy. Jenn’s been playing non-stop ever since she bought a console over the holidays, Alison has been trying to beat the new Super Mario Bros. (I beat it a few weeks ago!), Nicole even took a stab at Wii Sports, and Steph is thinking of trying it out. I wasn’t even going to blog about Super Mario until I received this awesome e-mail with a Super Mario cake image from Chrissie at Too Nice to Slice. So, the image got me thinking. If Super Mario were to have a wedding what would it look like? I’m thinking it would have to have the following elements:

Giddy with Gleeeeee

OMG, have you been watching Glee?! If you haven’t, you’ve got to jump onto the bandwagon. I think I’m a tad too obsessed with it, as I’ve been looking for a way to blog about Glee for the longest time. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it’s an exciting show that outlines the lives of high school kids joining the Glee club. It’s packed with singing, hilarious lines, and not to mention the ever-so-drool-worthy Glee club teacher, Mr. Schuester (played by Matthew Morrison). Anywho, last night’s show was another fabulous episode. This time, we heard Emma (Jayma Mays), who plays the school’s guidance counselor, sing for the very first time. Her rendition of “I Could Have Danced All Night” from My Fair Lady was so charming and she looked so elegant doing so in her wedding dress. Agreed? Are there any other Glee fans out there? Would love to hear from you!
