Williams-Sonoma’s Latest Pantry Collection

All of us here at Weddingbells have long been a fan of Jamie Oliver. Alison was even fortunate enough to see him in person last year during a presentation here in Toronto. Anywho, you can probably imagine our excitement when we found out that Williams-Sonoma introduced “The Jme Pantry Collection“, a delicious set of goodies by Jamie Oliver. Everything in this collection sounds absolutely divine, but I’m definitely looking forward to the English Honey Tea–produced by bees roaming the fields and hedgerows of Worcestershire.

Pop Pies or Pie Pops–the next sweet idea?

{image via the kitchn}

I personally love the idea of pie served on a plate (especially warm apple crumble pie topped with vanilla ice cream). But for those of you looking to serve them in itty-bitty sizes, pie on a stick is the next sweet thing on the list–after cake pops, cupcake pops, cheesecake pops, brownie pops, etc. (oh yes, I even heard there’s a bacon pop recipe comprised entirely out of goat cheese, herbs, pecan and bacon–not 100% sure I’m sold on that idea yet, but if you’ve tried it then let me know how it goes). Anywho, if you’re willing to take this project on, Luxirare has a great how-to recipe pie pop recipe (pictured included).

current obsession: selina lake

Some of the best decor ideas come from talented stylists such as Selina Lake. I first fell in love with her work a few weeks ago and constantly found myself going back through her images for inspiration. The coloured roses, simple cupcakes topped with real flowers and ribbon-wrapped bread (which could serve perhaps as wedding favours) were a few fun ideas of Selina’s that I thought I’d share with you. Just looking at all this delicious food–croissants, cookies, cotton candy, etc.–is making my mouth water. Love the dreamy and inviting presentation of everything. Big thanks goes out to Maddy K Food by Nicolina Servello for such an inspiring and gorgeous set-up. Indigo Fall Preview 2010

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Indigo Fall Preview for 2010–an event that showcases some of the newest books and items set to arrive this September. As expected, it was nothing short of spectacular. Every time I go, I always get excited to see the fabulous books (I’m a huge book lover!) as well as items that will be hitting the shelves. The biggest news, which all you foodies will love to hear, is that celebrity chef Mark McEwan (who also just announced that he will be head judge for Top Chef Canada) is unveiling his first ever cookbook entitled Great Food at Home.

I was lucky enough to try one of the recipes, foie gras brioche with rhubarb, which him and his team whipped up for us. Adding to Indigo’s newest items are these adorable teapots–perfect for bridal showers.

If you’re looking for the ultimate bridesmaids gift, Indigo has a great letter-inspired set filled with greeting cards, notebooks and candles.

As for groomsmen gifts, keep an eye out for these fun travel-inspired Moleskin notebooks.

Now don’t you wish it was Fall already?

strawberry shortcake alternative

This is such a marvelous idea for those of you that LOVE strawberry shortcake (the cake not the character!). Spotted from Eat Drink Chic–the bride opted to serve fresh strawberries, warm scones, jam and cream in lieu of a traditional cake. Yummy.

Wine Not?

For our first date in forever(!), Bojan and I have planned some much needed time to enjoy each other and discuss the wedding. Yes, it’s true—when you have children, it’s very difficult to stay connected. Thus, the focus of our date will be to reconnect and enjoy an activity pertaining to the wedding.

One of our dear friend’s parents own a wine making store. This will not only give us the opportunity to prepare refreshments for the reception but also to make a special brew for the guests as a wedding favour. Read the rest of this entry »

How Could I Forget?!?

Photography courtesy Culinary Catering.

With all the craziness that comes along with wedding planning, it is extremely easy to overlook details.  Even for an intimate affair as our wedding reception will be, I completely overlooked one major component:  KIDS!

We, along with a few of our close friends, have kids! In fact, they will comprise one-fifth of our final guest list. When developing the menu for our reception, I completely forgot about the kids’ menu. Read the rest of this entry »
