Current Obsession: Pink Magnolia’s
In my mind, pink Magnolia’s are one of the prettiest flowers available. They’re gorgeous, dreamy and have such a romantic air about them. Unfortunately, these beautiful blooms (usually available in pink, white and purple) are only available for a short period of time before they transform into leaves. Read the rest of this entry »

DIY lanterns, marshmallows and bouquets
A Field Journal is by far one of the most inspiring and craftiest blogs we’ve spotted in awhile. Absolutely love everything. Their knack for creating easy yet pretty pieces makes it even more enticing for you to want to add a few DIY touches to your celebration. Three of my favourite DIY projects from this cute blog include (pictured above) the crepe bouquet (yes it’s hard to believe that gorgeous arrangement is entirely made out of paper), cocoa candy cane marshmallows (great for bridal showers) and tea light lanterns.

vintage wedding mock-up
I’m still swooning over how beautiful this vintage wedding mock-up is. The details are simply stunning. From the gorgeous orchard table display to the mismatched floral centrepieces–not to mention the flower pin bouquet–there’s definitely some steal-worthy ideas here for your own celebration. My huge thanks goes out to Melissa Craven (she did the wonderful makeup), Jessica Zais (talented photographer out west) and Stage Right, Etc. (also a talented decor group) for collaborating and putting together such an inspiring scene. Enough explaining, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Ok, so I called this post the The DIY Birdcage Veil Experiment because I wasn’t really sure I could pull this off from the get-go. Before you read on, I will happily report that the experiment was a success, thanks in no small part to the multitude of DIY websites and forum posts that I found on the subject. I tried a few of these out (like this one from oncewed.com and this one from bridalguide.com) but in the end came up with my own simplified version of this project by Made by Amy, which I have laid out step by step for you here. As you can see, the supplies and steps in this project are minimal. I trimmed down the one by Amy because, well, with all the millions of things to plan for the wedding I figured the easier, the better! So here you go, my DIY Birdcage Veil… Read the rest of this entry »

Latest Obsession: Maihar Design
Last week, Nicole and I took a field trip to Sash & Bustle–a recently-opened cute boutique shop brimming with gorgeous Canadian exclusive lines like Stephanie James Couture and Siri. While we were there, owner, Cynthia Martyn, introduced us to this really awesome designer called Maihar Design–an indie store dedicated to creating one-of-a-kind ring bearer pillows and flower wands. Check them out! You can customize each one to your colour theme. Aren’t they adorable?!
