There’s nothing we love more than a great proposal story, especially when it’s caught on video. Add in some iconic building blocks we’ve grown up loving and the aww-factor is pretty much through the roof. Atlanta photographer and videographer, Walt Thompson spent two and a half days shooting 2,600 photos for this adorable stop motion proposal video for his girlfriend of four years, Nealey Dozier. The video chronicles their lives together, including fine details like the clothes they were wearing when they met and Dozier preparing food as a freelance food writer while Thompson photographed her. In their own living room Thompson played the video and waited until the very end to get down on one knee and pop the question with a ring box containing a LEGO bride and groom.

Just Engaged? 10 Things You Need To Do After You’ve Said Yes
December is a popular celebratory month–as it should be. It’s the perfect time, surrounded by family and friends, to enjoy your newly engaged status. But, after reveling in the glow, we understand how daunting wedding planning can appear to be. To keep you stress-free (and on the right track), here are 10 things to do once you’re ready to start planning your own day:
1) Share the news. It’s perfectly acceptable to share the news (if you haven’t already) with all your loved ones. Facebook, Twitter, on the phone, e-mail or in person–now’s the time to let those closest to you know that you’re engaged.
2) Start a wedding website. Many places, like Weddingbells have templated wedding sites and apps/tools on the back end to keep you organized. All you do is plug in the required information, and voila you’ve got an instant schedule and wedding site at your fingertips.
3) Talk to your fiancée about your celebration. Communication is key. Both of you should be on the same page–have the same vision, ideas and goals when it comes to your affair.
4) Budget. Although you may not know exactly the type of wedding you want, having an approximate wedding budget will make things easier in the long run (i.e. this could affect your venue, how many guests you invite, etc.).
5) Guest list. Once your budget is established, write down the names of guests you anticipate on inviting. This does not have to be a set list, but this will give you a more rounded number on how many people to expect, how much to spend and the type of venue you choose. Note: as a courtesy (if you wish) you should also ask parents (and in-laws) their number of guests–as they may want to include a few guests of their own.
6) Pick a date and find your venue(s). Choosing a date (try to choose more than one, as many venues book up to a year, or more, in advance) is key. Once you have a tentative idea, securing your reception and ceremony sites are a must–especially if your ceremony venue is separate from your reception space.
7) Once date and venue have been secured, create a to-do list or use a online tool list to help you plan and manage your time wisely. This will make planning your day less overwhelming–yet fun at the same time. With your budget, you’ll be able to slot tentative amounts accordingly.
8) Visit wedding shows. January is high time for wedding shows galore. It’s worth a shot to go out and visit vendors within your region. Don’t feel the need to book right away, go simply to obtain information. Plan a successful trip with our easy-to-follow wedding show tips.
9) Think about your bridal party. It’s not necessary to pick and choose your bridesmaids/groomsmen right away, but asking them in the early stages of planning does have its advantages–your bridal party members are wonderful people who may be able to assist you before the big day–such as gown hunting or attending bridal shows.
10) Research. Now comes the fun part–creating your inspiration board. Buy a ton of wedding magazines (make tears, flip through pages), go online (print photos), read up on vendors you may be considering (or saw at a show), scroll through blogs, and check out our real wedding page for inspiration galore. Gathering images are a wonderful way to garner inspiration for your own day. This is the fun part of planning, so enjoy it and all things will fall into place.

Britney’s Engagement Bling Details!
The holiday engagements have officially begun! Jason Trawick proposed to his pop princess Britney Spears last week and this time Brit’s mister-to-be bought the ring (if you remember, Britney bought her own ring with K-Fed). Props to Trawick for presenting Ms. Brit with a gorgeous dazzler that is just blingy enough, but not too showy. According to People, Trawick worked with jeweller-to-the-stars Neil Lane to create the perfect piece for his lady love. Lane tells People that Trawick wanted a ring fit for his “everyday princess,” so that was the theme the designer went with in creating the piece. Lane custom-created a tiara-motif sparkler with a round, perfect white diamond in a handmade platinum setting that “looks like a mini crown.” He also added 90 small round diamonds around the eternity band. “Jason didn’t want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone,” Lane said.
Now let’s start the guessing games as to what Brit Brit will wear? For her first (and 55-hour) marriage to Jason Alexander, it was a ballcap and crop top; to K-Fed she went with Monique Lhuillier. What do you think for this one, hopefully her third-time-lucky wedding?

A Perfect Proposal in Three Easy Steps
We’ve seen some crazy and creative wedding proposals in our time, but whether your fiancé asks via Jumbotron or over a candlelight dinner, chances are his proposal will adhere to some of these age-old traditions.
1) Ask the Parents. By asking permission your fiancé acknowledges how important you are to your parents and expresses his desire to become part of the family. Today, this is a courtesy and a sign of respect, but once upon a time it had a very different meaning. Hundreds of years ago when daughters were exchanged like property (yikes!), this meeting between the parents and the suitor provided an opportunity to discuss the subject of dowry, and what the suitor had to offer.
2) Pick a Ring. Your fiancé may choose the element of surprise—in which case, feel free to drop lots of hints!—or he might openly ask for your input. Another great option? The placeholder ring. We’ve heard of everything from candy rings to twist ties and pieces of string! The placeholder ring will enable your mister to pop the question first, and find your perfect ring (with your help!) later.
3) Get Down on Bended Knee. Have you ever wondered where this tradition comes from? Interestingly enough, this act is derived from the process of being knighted by the Queen! Modern-day Sir Lancelots should kneel on their left knee and present the ring with their right hand. Kneeling also conveys a sense of vulnerability and giving oneself to the ultimate commitment. So now you know!
Tell us, how did your mister ask for your hand in marriage? We’d love to hear your personal proposal stories!

New Video: Downtown Disney Flashmob Proposal

Give it a few more days and, there’s no doubt in our minds that it will go viral and pass the 1 million viewers record. And, why not? It’s got the makings of the perfect engagement story: a romantic location (in Disney) coupled with an amazing song in the background (Bruno Mars’ ‘Marry You’). How to Host the Perfect Engagement Party
An engagement is a special time in your life, and much like a birthday or anniversary it needs to be celebrated in a big way. Make it a great excuse to get your family and friends together to celebrate you and your husband-to-be!
1. Who to invite?
There will be many moments leading up to your wedding day when you will have to sit down and decide who is invited? Your engagement party is one of them! When brainstorming your guest list, make sure to think of who is most important to you and who you wanted to call first with the news. Also ensure that these people will be invited to your wedding as well. Start with family members and close friends.
2. Planning
When looking for a place to host your soiree, think of places that reflect you as a couple. Do you love big lavish nights out on the town or fun family barbecues? It isn’t the big day so make sure to save some “ooh la la” for later. Keep it simple with drinks and good music. As for food, make it as easy on you as possible: organize a pot luck or hire a caterer.
3. What to Wear
Whether you’re hosting a small backyard party or a banquet hall evening, your dress should stand out and reflect your personality and wedding style. Don’t go over the top with a gown, instead try looking for a fun cocktail dress with intricate detailing or bright colours. Use your engagement party as an excuse to add another pretty dress to your wardrobe!
4. Life of the Party
Have fun! It is your party and your day—keep the bar flowing and some great music playing and your guests will take care of the rest. You might want to have a few words prepared to share with your family just how happy you are to be taking the next step. Some tissues nearby may be a good idea!
