Postcard Invitations

As part of our plan to reduce our impact on the environment, we had to think hard about out wedding invites. Sure, the most environmentally friendly way to do it is to send out evites, but I’ve always loved receiving the beautiful wedding invites from my friends in the mail. There’s something antiquated and traditional about getting an invitation (or anything other than bills, for that matter) in the mail.

The compromise: send out postcard invites. That way we can reduce the amount of paper that would go towards envelopes and RSVP cards (and their envelopes), and maps, and registry info, and so on, and so on. The problem with a postcard is that there is little room for text, so the invite has the basic minimal information, and then it directs people to our wedding website for more information. Music Be the Food of Love

At Tegan and Sara concert.

If music be the food of love, then we shall feast on our wedding day.

Music is very important to Ger and I, so we want to make sure we have the perfect mix playing for the big day. We also want to make sure our guests enjoy themselves (and shake their booty too!!!). That’s why we are asking one of our good friends, and music expert, Patrick, to serve as our personal DJ. Read the rest of this entry »

Wow! Wooden Flowers

I was recently inspired by Cynthia Martyn’s latest blog inspiration on wooden flowers. At first glance these gorgeous blooms look like your ordinary elegant bouquet. But, once up close, you can definitely see all the pretty and little intricate details. Amazing isn’t it? And, eco-friendly too. Krislyn Design is one company that does a fantastic job of using balsa wood to make her florals look quite life-like.

Sleek and Stylish Diffuser

I really like the idea of home scents, but either I don’t like what they look like, find the smell too strong or am fearful the fragrance is full of chemicals. Recently I came across the Cube by Senscity and was very swayed. Read the rest of this entry »

Going to the Moon with my Honey

In my last post, I shared some of our travel photos and wrote about how Ger and I are the most in sync when we are on one of our adventures. The thing we always look forward to most is travelling. We’ve both done a fair bit of travelling, but there is still so much of the world we want to see. We love being exposed to new foods, cultures, traditions…the whole shebang. Here are some of our dream destinations: Read the rest of this entry »

De-stress with Lavender

The fields at Bleu Lavande.

Did you know lavender is a great stress reliever? When used as an aromatherapy treatment, studies have shown it greatly reduces stress. While there are other scents that provide calming effects, this one is a favourite of mine. It’s also great for helping you get to sleep! I recently discovered a Canadian company called Bleu Lavande. Juicy Tubes Go Natural

Did you know Juicy Tubes is celebrating its 10th anniversary? It’s hard to think it’s already been that long since the yummy glosses hit the beauty scene. When I bought my first tube it was a splurge for me at the time and I was obsessed. Today I have even more reason to be obsessed as Juicy Tubes has also gotten a makeover, both inside and out. Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Canola is Yellow and Eco-friendly too

WBMar10_carrie-gergly

I love flowers. This is why it was a bit sad to have to give up the beautiful orchids flown in from Singapore, and the fleshy tulips from Holland, because of course, it wouldn’t be environmentally friendly to have to ship in my flowers across multiple oceans.

So I had to look around for flowers in the famous flower-producing capital of the world: Alberta…in September. Read the rest of this entry »
