I’m sad to say that all the beautiful work that Partina Atelier and Papillon Cakes did for us is coming to an end. The six sketches that they created for us last week were amazing. And, today I’m going to end with another one of their gorgeous ideas. Inspired by origami both Tina and Diana set out to create something very reminiscent of Japanese culture.
I am in LOVE with these sketches. To me, they simply scream Hawaii. Both the dress and the cake are simple yet elegant and definitely have that destination vibe going on. What do you think? Would you wear this or have this type of confection for your wedding day?

Paris anyone? I’m really loving the romantic sweep of this gown. And the fleur-de-lys embellishment on the cake. Everything is soooo je ne sais quoi!

I was going to save this surprise for last, but I’ve never been good at containing my surprises, so I thought I might as well share my favourite sketch sooner rather than later. Today’s drawing epitomizes a glamorous Torontonian bride. Both Partina Atelier and Papillon Cakes opted to go very Canadiana with this one by adding leaf embellishments to the dress and the cake. Love it!

Don’t have your cake or dress picked out yet? Well, for those of you still on the hunt for those special elements, this week’s blog posts are going to blow your mind away. A few weeks back I contacted Tina Cho from Partina Atelier and Diana Shin from Papillon Cakes about working on a “special” collaboration exclusive to this blog. The idea was to work together and sketch out a matching cake and dress design–inspired by a specific destination. The result? Well, let’s just say I nearly knocked Jenn down with joy when the sketches arrived in my inbox. The talented pair had sent over 6 gorgeous and inspiring designs for you ladies to fawn over. Today I am revealing their “Greece” inspired wedding gown and confection. Aren’t the olive leaf embellishments beautiful? Let me know what you think. To me, finding inspiring ideas to share with you ladies is one of the best parts of my job. I really love stepping outside of the box and looking at “non-bridal” ideas and incorporating them into your wedding day, which is why you’re in for a treat with today’s exquisite post. Lori from The Caketress e-mailed me these “GORGEOUS” photos. Inspired by the “Truffle” dress from Cabaret (a Toronto-based shop), Lori and the talented team from Rowell Photography met up and had a fun collaboration. If you’re stuck on a cake design, this is definitely one unique way to brainstorm for your own confection. Check out the images.
I’m in awe of brides who step outside the “traditional” gown and slip into something rather “unique.” So when I received this illustration by Alexsandro Palombo I simply had to share. (Side note: Alexsandro Palombo is the mastermind behind Humor Chic, which is a daily society portrait blog on views about fashion, culture, society and celebrity. It’s rather cheeky and hilarious, I suggest you check it out). The bride, Rei Kawakubo, and the groom, Yoji Yamamoto, are amongst the most highly recognized fashion designers in Japan and internationally. True, the dress isn’t something I would wear personally, but I love that Rei–being a major style icon–donned something that speaks volumes of her style and personality. A lesson that we should all adhere to. I’m sure that down the road, she’ll look back with no regrets. Er, hopefully! I’d love to hear, are you doing something “different” or unique for your wedding?
