Bride & Groom Candy Apples

Photography Carlo Mendoza. Last week I was calling in tons of delicious treats that were going to be shot for an upcoming Sweet Dictionary slideshow. Each letter needed to have a corresponding treat and let’s just say Q, X and Z weren’t the easiest. However, we did find some good ones, but you’ll have to wait until the Sweet Dictionary launches in April before you find out what sweet is going with each letter! I promise some will surprise! Sweet Week

wbfeb10_1cake_500x200

As I write you this blog, I kid you not, I am most likely surrounded by dozens and dozens of cakes. Yes, it’s our major week for cakes and flowers (I’m hoping to have some ‘behind-the-scenes’ images to share with you). But, in the meantime, I’ll let you feast your eyes on these amazing confections by Allyson Meredith and Bobbette & Belle. From mini-treats to luxurious cakes (I’ve included over 20 cake examples–couldn’t pick a fave), I’m sure you’ll find a sweet to your liking. Enjoy!

Ooh Chocolat…

wbjan10_1choc_475x400

The Toronto Wedding Co. Show, spearheaded by Catherine Lash, that I went to over the weekend was amazing as usual. It’s always so fun to go out and say hello to everyone. But, what I love most about the shows are getting to know and meet new faces, be it photographers or cake designers. One vendor that I was severely impressed with was MoRoCo. Immediately drawn by their lavishly decadent set-up, I knew I had to see what they were all about. Turns out, they’re this really beautiful and sweet chocolate lounge located in Yorkville, Toronto. Their chocolate was just scrumptious and can be customized with your names. It’s definitely a nice and different twist to wrapped chocolate bars. Below are examples of their cocoa bar set-ups. Yummy!

I’m Craving These Sweets

wbjan10_1sweet_500x350

Okay, not gonna lie, my New Year’s resolution for sticking to “healthy snacks” is slowly diminishing after seeing all these delicious desserts from my current obsession–Sweet & Saucy shop. There’s really not much to say about these cakes, except–WOW! I’ll let the images do the talking. Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »

Cheesy Idea

Yesterday Jenn kept raving about this amazing “Cheesecake on a Stick” idea that she tried at an event on Saturday. I was so intrigued by the thought that I decided to check it out for myself. I’ve never heard of the idea, so Google images here we go. Found this scrumptious one from Elizabeth Anne Designs blog. Created by Bold American Catering, this chocolate-dipped cheesecake on a stick idea might just be the next cupcake? Hmm, we shall see.

TomKat’s 3rd Anniversary

Just over the weekend I read that Tom and Katie celebrated their third wedding anniversary in Boston. I can’t quite recall all the details, but I heard that Tom had rented out the whole second floor of some venue for a romantic dinner with the mrs. Afterwards, they went to Abe and Louie’s for dessert, where they reportedly indulged in a seven layer chocolate cake and key lime pie. I’ve never been to Abe and Louie’s for their dessert. But I’d imagine the cake and pie to look something scrumptious and delightful like this!

mmm, shortbread cookies!

wbnov09_cooki_350x250

Our friends over at Canadian Family just posted this REALLY mouth-watering image of a lemon & lavender shortbread cookie. Looking at them kind of makes you want to pull them from your screen and munch on one right now. Yum, yum, yum! Click here to get the recipe.

Mmm, dessert!

wboct09_amy_500x350
Right now, I’m sad to say, I am on a sugar restriction. Can’t eat anything sweet for the next few days–darn you throat infection! So, I’ve settled for second best, if I can’t eat the yummy items, the least I can do is torment myself by staring at some decadent goodies. One really inspiring idea that I found came off of Amy Atlas’ blog. For those of you unfamiliar, Amy Atlas is a master at designing deliciously gorgeous dessert tables. Read the rest of this entry »
