Super Straws

{image via Sweet Paul}

Is it weird that I have an obsession with straws? Well, not just any plain ones, I’m particularly fond of the decorative striped ones. I think they would be a great embellishment for those of you planning a nautical/retro celebration. Read the rest of this entry »

an ikea wedding–sort of…

A few days ago I did a quick post on how stylists can be a great source of inspiration–especially when it comes to wedding decor. Enter Lo Bjurulf of Agent Bauer, who’s work I recently spotted from 100 Layer Cake (one of my daily blog reads). Lo has a great portfolio consisting of reception set-ups, which consists of mainly Ikea items. I must agree with 100 Layer Cake, Ikea never looked so good.

current obsession: selina lake

Some of the best decor ideas come from talented stylists such as Selina Lake. I first fell in love with her work a few weeks ago and constantly found myself going back through her images for inspiration. The coloured roses, simple cupcakes topped with real flowers and ribbon-wrapped bread (which could serve perhaps as wedding favours) were a few fun ideas of Selina’s that I thought I’d share with you. Summer Finds at Pottery Barn

In an earlier post I mentioned how I got to preview some of the fabulous new things coming from Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, well I thought I’d get you inspired for summer with more amazing things you’ll love to register for (or even buy now!). Like I’ve said before updating your home doesn’t have to be expensive. Add some fresh new pillows, decor accents (like vases, lanterns or candles) or even a new bedspread. If you are considering registering at Pottery Barn or Williams-Sonoma, their registry program is accessible to guests anywhere in Canada. All they’ll have to do is give them a call and they’ll arrange everything (including the gift-wrap). Plus whatever items you don’t receive, but requested, is available for you to purchase at 10% off – more of a reason for you to register for everything you want!

This summer Pottery Barn has some incredibly adorable finds, like glass coolers, mason jar drinking mugs, faux coral decor pieces, sea-inspired napkins, plates and even candles. The great thing about this collection is that it’s not a theme that will go out of style. Personally I’m all for bringing the beach a little closer to home.

DIY lanterns, marshmallows and bouquets

A Field Journal is by far one of the most inspiring and craftiest blogs we’ve spotted in awhile. Absolutely love everything. Their knack for creating easy yet pretty pieces makes it even more enticing for you to want to add a few DIY touches to your celebration. Three of my favourite DIY projects from this cute blog include (pictured above) the crepe bouquet (yes it’s hard to believe that gorgeous arrangement is entirely made out of paper), cocoa candy cane marshmallows (great for bridal showers) and tea light lanterns.

current obsession: wine cork place cards

Play off your love for wine with these fun cork place card holders from CorkyCreations. Available in a set of 50, these cute corks can be customized from one of the following designs: “Mr & Mrs”, “Live Laugh Love”, “I do” with hearts, Wedding Cake and Champagne Flutes. Bonus: the sides of each cork can also be customized with a dream message like “always” or a romantic pair of hearts. Such fun!

vintage wedding mock-up

I’m still swooning over how beautiful this vintage wedding mock-up is. The details are simply stunning. From the gorgeous orchard table display to the mismatched floral centrepieces–not to mention the flower pin bouquet–there’s definitely some steal-worthy ideas here for your own celebration. My huge thanks goes out to Melissa Craven (she did the wonderful makeup), Jessica Zais (talented photographer out west) and Stage Right, Etc. (also a talented decor group) for collaborating and putting together such an inspiring scene. Enough explaining, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
