DIY: Sweet Series Part 1 of 5

Earlier this morning I wrote that we had a secret guest blogger who would be showcasing some fun and easy DIY sweet options. Right now, I’m happy to reveal that our secret guest blogger for the week is (drum roll please!) Roxanne Wickwire from Roxycakes. A few weeks ago, we both obsessed over how much we loved Bakerella and her DIY ideas. As we discussed our love for sweet treats, Roxy and I came to the conclusion that we should definitely cook up some bridal-worthy creations for you ladies. Easy, pretty and delicious was our mission. So, for the next few days watch as we reveal a yummy goody worthy to be served at your bridal shower or used as favours for your own celebration. Enjoy!

Today’s sweet treat is…. Mini Fudge Cakes! Get Roxy’s recipe and her how-to below:

Say Cheese Please

Have any of you heard about One Pop Cheesecake Lollipops? Let me tell you, they are deeee-licious, and if you ever get your hands on them, watch out as you might end up eating more than one or two–yes, they’re that good. Food Trends (located in Toronto) are the pros behind these amazing goodies. They’re available in various flavours (Caramel, Cherry, Vanilla, Pistachio, Banana, Lemon, Mocha, etc.) and can be easily placed in mini-boxes as favours or served on a cheesecake lollipop tree (think of your average lollipop stand). The chocolates can even be customized to fit your colour scheme.

Ooh Chocolat…

The Toronto Wedding Co. Show, spearheaded by Catherine Lash, that I went to over the weekend was amazing as usual. It’s always so fun to go out and say hello to everyone. But, what I love most about the shows are getting to know and meet new faces, be it photographers or cake designers. One vendor that I was severely impressed with was MoRoCo. Immediately drawn by their lavishly decadent set-up, I knew I had to see what they were all about. Turns out, they’re this really beautiful and sweet chocolate lounge located in Yorkville, Toronto. Their chocolate was just scrumptious and can be customized with your names. It’s definitely a nice and different twist to wrapped chocolate bars. Below are examples of their cocoa bar set-ups. Yummy!

Cheesy Idea

Yesterday Jenn kept raving about this amazing “Cheesecake on a Stick” idea that she tried at an event on Saturday. I was so intrigued by the thought that I decided to check it out for myself. I’ve never heard of the idea, so Google images here we go. Found this scrumptious one from Elizabeth Anne Designs blog. Created by Bold American Catering, this chocolate-dipped cheesecake on a stick idea might just be the next cupcake? Hmm, we shall see.

Cake Flavour Testing

Yesterday, our staff at Weddingbells received a nice surprise–delicious cakes. Of course, I was in on the surprise with Kristin from Cake or Death, who approached me a few weeks back about dropping off some cake samples at our office. Kristin was super-nice and sweet enough to bake us, not one, but three scrumptious confections in flavours of chocolate, pistachio and red velvet. As for the designs, it was a pleasant surprise to see them mimicked to look like an actual gift box from Chanel, Tiffany & Co. and Cartier.

S’more Please!

wbsep09_smore_300x450Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend. I just got back from the cottage and I’m already missing it. It felt so nice to get away from the city noise and completely immerse myself with nature–sans the pesky insects. But, what I’m really missing the most are the s’mores. I know, I know, you can make them easily at home, but, it’s just not the same–especially when you have the camp fire going. At first I thought it’d be an awesome idea to have s’mores at your wedding, but then that can get messy. So instead, I went searching for something a little neater to eat, but with the same taste.
