The Dress, The Cake And More Details From Sofia Coppola’s Wedding

Francis Ford Coppola’s daughter’s recent marriage to French rocker Thomas Mars was a lesson in understated elegance. The couple tied the knot this weekend at Palazzo Margherita, the Coppola family’s villa in the southern Italian town of Bernalda. Bernalda’s mayor, Leonardo Chiruzzi, officiated the ceremony.

Rumours about who would design Sofia’s gown swirled before the ceremony and we were stunned by her unexpected, yet lovely, choice. The bride chose a custom-made sheer lavender gown by Azzedine Alaïa.

The 70 wedding guests dined on traditional southern Italian fare (grilled fish, roast pork, ham and figs, pasta with tomato and basil, salads, courgettes and fresh cheeses) while enjoying wines from the Coppola family’s vineyard. Dinner was followed with a simple low-lying vanilla cake with chantilly cream, decorated with white flowers and prepared by the chef at the Magna Grecia hotel.

Coppola and Mars, who first revealed their engagement in May, have two daughters: Romy, 4½, and Cosima, 15 months.

Model Petra Němcová to Wear Marchesa Wedding Gown PLUS 14 Luxury Gowns from their Latest Bridal Collection

Model Petra Němcová has had her fair share of being in the spotlight–from catwalks to magazine spreads to ads, this gorgeous lady has seen it all. But, one of her biggest (and most anticipated) milestone moments to come takes place in June 2012, when she is set to wed actor fiancé Jamie Belman. As far as information goes, we do know that the two will be tying the knot in England near the countryside. But, that’s not all the model revealed, just yesterday she announced to the Telegraph that she will be walking down the aisle in a Marchesa gown. “The dress will be designed by Marchesa. The relationship with Marchesa for me has been for many, many years, since they started, and it’s nice to be able to wear them on that special day. We still have one year to prepare so we are working on the other details,” the models tells Telegraph.

For those of you who haven’t had the privilege of viewing Marchesa’s Spring 2012 collection, let’s just say it’s the cream of the crop. A luxurious and ethereal set filled with lots of tulle, lace and various other embellishments, be prepared to get wowed and inspired for your own wedding day.

Tori Spelling Wants to be Shannen Doherty’s Wedding Planner

Could Brenda and Donna reunite in the reality realm for a wedding extravaganza? Tori Spelling seems to think it’s possible. In a twist of fate that seems so made-for-television it could have been scripted, both former 90210 stars are currently trying their hands at wedding-themed reality television.

People has reported that Spelling, the wedding-planning star of Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings, has offered her services to Shannen Doherty, who is working on a show documenting her nuptials to soon-to-be-hubby Kurt Iswarienko.

In a recent interview Spelling told ET Canada she’d do the wedding but wasn’t sure what type of affair Doherty was after. “People’s tastes change,” says Spelling. “I could probably comment on the wedding she’d want 20 years ago, but that wouldn’t make any sense. I don’t know. She has great taste, I know that.”

Michael Kors Is Getting Married

Prepare to swoon — this is the design guru’s better half! We had no idea Michael Kors’s longtime partner and soon-to-be-hubby, Lance LePere, bore such a striking resemblance to Gabriel Aubry!

With the legalization of same-sex marriage in New York the designer and Project Runway judge has confirmed that he will marry LePere, according to PEOPLE (and we don’t blame him!). The couple, who met back in 1990 when LePere began interning for Kors, have already picked up their marriage license but say they will keep their nuptials very private and relatively low-key. To spite talk of a simple ceremony we’re pretty sure the style bar will be set high. Here’s hoping that one of the guests leaks a TwitPic!

Own A Little Piece Of Bachelorette Fashion History

Okay, we’ll admit it, watching the Bachelorette has always been one of our guilty pleasures. We made a point of staying home Monday night to see who Ashley Hebert would ultimately choose. So, yes, you could call us fans of the show…but we’re not as fanatical as some. How do we know this? Perhaps it’s that we’re slightly confused to hear news of the Bachelor/Bachelorette Charity Auction.

Now before you immediately whip out your chequebook we think you should know that it’s not the actual stars you’ll be bidding on…it’s their outfits! Starting tomorrow you can go to shopedropoff.com and bid on looks the contestants wore on their respective seasons of the show. The auction runs from August 5th to 12th with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Red Cross.

The concept is the brainchild of former bachelorette Trista Sutter, who told InStyle she came up with the idea after a deadly tornado struck her home state of Missouri. To support Trista’s cause more than 30 former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants have offered up outfits they wore on TV.

Let’s face it, the Bachelorette bunch aren’t the most style-savvy ladies on television (see above) but InStyle has compiled a collection of some of the key items that uber-fans might flock to.

Kim Kardashian Reveals Vera Wang As Her Wedding Dress Designer PLUS Three Of Our Fave Hollywood Starlets Who Wore Vera Too!

As reported by UsMagazine.com, it looks like Kim Kardashian’s grandiose wedding to former Toronto Raptor Kris Humphries is about to get bigger. Although the details surrounding the celebration are hush hush, Kim did reveal that Vera Wang herself was going to create her gown. It comes as no surprise though, as Kim posted the following comment on her blog , “I am so excited to reveal that Vera Wang is my wedding dress designer. Vera has been a close family friend for a long time and we had talked about this moment for years, so when it came to picking my wedding dress designer she was the first person I thought of. No one designs gowns the way she does! I know that Vera can make my dream come true and create the most perfect gown for my special day.”

As we all know, Vera’s gowns range from pretty princess styles to stunning fitted gowns, but, knowing Kim’s style, there’s no doubt in our mind that her wedding day dress will be ultra-gorgeous, glamorous and very sexy. Like the Duchess of Cambridge, all we can do is speculate. In the meantime, why not take a look at other celebrity brides who also chose Vera for their special day? There’s tons! Honourable mentions go to Alicia Keys, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Aniston, Alyssa Milano, Avril Lavigne, Jessica Simpson. But, of all the leading ladies these three really hit the mark for us:

IVANKA TRUMP
Looking every bit like an old-fashioned princess, Ivanka chose a gown similar to Vera’s Esther gown–an elegant creation covered in chantilly lace topped with a sheer tulle elbow-length sleeve. We loved that Ivanka went with a classic lace fabric. But our fave part was the chic transparent top–a beautiful alternative to a traditional shrug.

HILARY DUFF
Not one to shy from the spotlight, we were wowed by Hilary’s decision to don a strapless mermaid sweetheart gown–very glam and stunning. “Hilary wanted ‘mermaid’. The dress was embellished by hand. That was full-on Hollywood couture glamour,” Vera explains. For those of you looking for a similar style, Vera’s Gemma dress is the exact cut with a more embellished train covered in glizty beading.

CHELSEA CLINTON
Walking down the aisle in a romantic ruffled gown, Chelsea was the epitome of a picture perfect bride. For a touch of glam, we loved that she wrapped her waist with a sparkly belt. For a similar look, try Vera’s Diana gown–a strapless sweetheart with a swirly frothy draped skirt.
