DIY lanterns, marshmallows and bouquets

A Field Journal is by far one of the most inspiring and craftiest blogs we’ve spotted in awhile. Absolutely love everything. Their knack for creating easy yet pretty pieces makes it even more enticing for you to want to add a few DIY touches to your celebration. Three of my favourite DIY projects from this cute blog include (pictured above) the crepe bouquet (yes it’s hard to believe that gorgeous arrangement is entirely made out of paper), cocoa candy cane marshmallows (great for bridal showers) and tea light lanterns.

Fun Dessert Tables

You know what your bridal shower or wedding needs? A fun dessert table like this gorgeous one from Shauna Younge Dessert Tables. I love her style–it’s fresh and simple. The pink set-up was done with a preppy-chic design in mind while the lavender creation simply oozes elegance and charm. Click through the little thumbnails below to see close-ups of all the fun treats! Enjoy.

who loves candy?!

I can’t tell how excited I am to share with you one of the most awesome candy vendors I’ve had the pleasure of speaking/working with–The Candy Store. As you all know our big 25th anniversary party is coming up this Thursday (exciting!). Everything has been coming along quite fabulously (we can hardly wait to share with you some of the most amazing details). One interesting tidbit that I can share with you is our plans for an amazing candy bar/candy buffet. Read the rest of this entry »

DIY: Candy Favours

A few weeks ago my guy’s sister–Jeanette–celebrated her 18th birthday–in Filipino tradition we call it a debut. Long definition short, a debut signifies the “coming of age” for any woman into society, sort of like, a debutante ball if you will. Depending on your personality and style, debuts can really be super-formal, almost like a wedding sans the groom. Jeanette, being a huge rock enthusiast, opted for a more informal affair. She wanted to celebrate with her friends in true rock and roll mode, so in lieu of formal attire, she asked everyone to attend in their best “rock” outfits. It was pretty amazing, it’s not everyday that you’re privy to about 100 leather jacket-wearing teens. Anywho, not wanting to shift away from tradition too much, Jeanette still kept a few formal debut elements–one being a three-tier cake (she’s a sweet-a-holic like moi!) and the second being elegant favours. My challenge? Or, better yet, my mission was to transform delicious candy into a chic giveaway, while not breaking the bank.

Something Sweet to Eat

wboct09_treat_325x500

Do you find that only during Halloween do you ever eat certain candies–even if they are available all-year long? That’s always the case with me and candy corn. For some reason, it only tastes “just right” in and around Halloween. Read the rest of this entry »
