Bridesmaid Gifts: Ideas From Other Brides On What To Get Your Girls

Want to get a little something special for the girls in your bridal party but unsure of what to pick out? We asked our Facebook followers what sorts of gifts they’d be giving to their best girls. Here’s what they had to say:

I had beautiful clutch purses custom made for them, as well as necklace/earring sets. :)
- Alana Scott

I got them custom-made pearl necklaces with matching earrings, tanks tops that say “maid of honour” and “bridesmaid”, and brown flip-flops in case their feet start to hurt.
- Shannon Black

I bought them Kate Spade emerald drop earrings and a pair of hanky pankys.
- Jen Stav

I got them friendship balls and pearl necklaces.
- Jennifer M Gjertsen

White robes with their initials embroidered :)
- Melissa Freij

Custom-made and personalized Zippo lighters with their entire first and last name engraved.
- Caitlin Lee Hendrick-Arounlasy

I got them little gift bags full of goodies.
- Brandi Brook Smith

Crystal earrings to match their black dresses.
- Jenilee Kupka

I gave them silver lipstick cases with their names engraved on them.
- Christie Geen

I bought their dresses and other little things.
- Rachel Burnie

Beautiful Kate Spade clutches, flasks, pashminas, and custom-made pearl necklaces.
- Aubri Poon

I bought them reversible necklaces that were handmade. Who knew that the Vancouver Art Gallery had such amazingly beautiful jewelry for presents?!
- Mink Makeup & Hair

And here they are… MAC’s VENOMOUS VILLAINS

I’m excited! More like over-the-top excited to finally reveal to you MAC’s latest collection (coming this September and available until October)–their Venomous Villains set (FYI these would make AWESOME bridesmaids gifts). About a month ago, we received a teaser e-mail stating that MAC was going to come out with a Villain’s collection–although they didn’t name names. Alison immediately picked Cruella de Vil, who made the final cut, along with Snow White’s Evil Queen, Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent and–this came as a complete yet pleasant surprise–The Princess and the Frog’s Dr. Facilier. Judging by the packaging, I’ve already got my eye on Maleficent’s eyeshadow duo and Cruella’s eyeshadow. Who’s your most coveted evil villain? And what do you have your eye on?

Read more after the jump for an entertaining interview with each villain, along with a snapshot of their latest set.

where fashion meets paper

I love creative stationery shops that really stand out. Enter Bonnie Marcus Collection. Her line is quite unique and caters to the fashionista in all of us. As a former wedding planner from NYC, Bonnie found it hard to find invitations that really represented her trendy brides and grooms–hence the reason she created her own line. From customized notepads for your bridesmaids (which make great gifts by the way) to creative to-do bridal check lists to chic thank-you cards (similar to the ones above), there’s definitely an array of options to pick and choose from.

the making of four coach bags

4 bloggers + Coach + 4 inspiration boards = 4 new bags! When I saw these inspiration boards, I thought, hmm these look pretty neat. Needless to say I didn’t know they were the inspiration boards for four really REALLY gorgeous Coach bags. Basically four fashion bloggers: Emily from cupcakes and cashmere, Kelly from the glamourai, Karla from karla’s closet and Krystal from what is reality anyway? teamed up with Coach to create a few unique bags–worthy to be given as bridesmaids gifts. Check them out:

fashionable stationery for your bridal party

I love the idea of giving your bridesmaids and groomsmen custom thank-you cards. And, what better way to personalize those thank-you’s then with these fun and fashion-forward cards by Lilly & Louise. These one-of-a-kind creations are great because Lilly and Louise can embellish each one with the exact replica of your bridal party’s wedding day attire.

Indigo Fall Preview 2010

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending the Indigo Fall Preview for 2010–an event that showcases some of the newest books and items set to arrive this September. As expected, it was nothing short of spectacular. Every time I go, I always get excited to see the fabulous books (I’m a huge book lover!) as well as items that will be hitting the shelves. The biggest news, which all you foodies will love to hear, is that celebrity chef Mark McEwan (who also just announced that he will be head judge for Top Chef Canada) is unveiling his first ever cookbook entitled Great Food at Home.

I was lucky enough to try one of the recipes, foie gras brioche with rhubarb, which him and his team whipped up for us. Adding to Indigo’s newest items are these adorable teapots–perfect for bridal showers.

If you’re looking for the ultimate bridesmaids gift, Indigo has a great letter-inspired set filled with greeting cards, notebooks and candles.

As for groomsmen gifts, keep an eye out for these fun travel-inspired Moleskin notebooks.

Now don’t you wish it was Fall already?

charming animals

For those of you who are looking for a cute and fun bridesmaid gift–we’ve found it! Take a look at these adorable charms that Alison brought to my attention the other day. Aren’t they lovely?! These crafty pieces are courtesy of Marmalade Designs. The bracelet and earrings that they offer make a fine pair, but we’re absolutely drawn to their necklaces which have reversible charms (meaning you can have one print on one side and another print on the other). Here’s one combo that I’m currently obsessed with:

Cute huh?

Love for Doves

One jewellery store that always makes my day is Tiffany‘s. Recently I had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at their upcoming Paloma Picasso collections and fell in love with the dove pendants. Read the rest of this entry »
