Four Gorgeous Boutonniere Alternatives

Carnations, roses, poppies, orchids and every type of floral in between have long been worn by men at formal events–weddings included. However, for a unique twist to the traditional boutonniere, why not opt for something a little less flowery? Read the rest of this entry »

Gorgeous Wedding Floral Inspiration

Celebrating their second anniversary this summer, Les Petites Excuses is a gorgeous Montreal-based floral studio that’s blooming with fresh and innovative designs. From romantic bouquets to cute arrangements, one only has to look at their portfolio to see how creative and talented they are. When it comes to weddings, I LOVE their design aesthetic–a bit modern with an elegant twist. To really get a feel of what they can offer, here are a few of my fave designs from their portfolio. Enjoy!

Heart-Throbbing Colour

{All photography courtesy Michael Moore Photography}

Hues, tones, textures… they can say so much. When my long time childhood friend, talent artist, graphic designer, and in my humble opinion colour expert, asked me to do her flowers, I admit I was stressed!! She had a vision of specific autumn colours accented with warm notes of eggshell blue, mixed throughout layers of petals. After searching through magazines for inspiration, pouring over pantone colours, and choosing the perfect ribbons, this is what we came up with. Enjoy, I hope these pictures inspire you to come up with your own unique colour palette. (More photos after the jump) Read the rest of this entry »

Quirky Bridal Accessories

Romantic, nature and vintage brides alike can rejoice when they see the wonderful items crafted by Mignonne Handmade. From cute and quirky hairpieces to whimsical and garden-like boutonnieres, Mignonne Handmade is a one-stop destination for all things unique. Just as an FYI, Mignonne creates everything from scratch, so you can rest assured in knowing that you are wearing a one-of-a-kind piece. Here’s a little note from the designer herself:

Each flower is handmade by yours truly, hand dyed and cut, pressed with a vintage milliners iron and hand sewn together. I love to use lots of interesting bits of vintage this and that to add whimsy and magic, some of the vintage items used have been handpicked by me in the flea markets of France. I incorporate my own aesthetic when creating these flowers and as a result they are not “perfect” factory made looking pieces, they are all individual and have their own character and quirks, hope you like them too!
