My New Favourite: Destination Dress

Blame it on Toronto’s grey skies, but I’m currently dreaming about lush tropical beaches. Speaking of which, wouldn’t this wedding dress (by Destinations by Mon Cheri) be pretty for a Caribbean ceremony? Can’t you just feel the wind in your hair? The hand-painted skirt with illusion overlay is really different—daring, yet subtle, and perfectly suited to sunny skies, turquoise seas and exotic blooms.

TGIF! To end the week on a high note, I thought I’d finally share these BEAUTIFUL images with you. Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been in touch with Jen from Layers Wedding Cakes–a talented cake designer from Nova Scotia. We had been e-mailing back and forth about how we could showcase some of Canada’s maritime talent. The solution? Jen and an amazing group of vendors all got together to produce an inspiring reception piece. The result? The images speak for themselves, but I’d definitely say they more than capture the essence of what a seaside/east coast Canadian chic wedding should aspire to be like. Enjoy!!

Summery Wedding Decor

I seriously love this time of the year (although the weather over the last few weeks has been sort of odd). Regardless, I’m always so eager and ecstatic to see what other home decor stores are busting out for the summer. Decor stores are actually where I get a lot of my inspiration from. Pottery Barn in particular always has some amazing ideas, and although they are for the home, I can easily see their items being implemented into wedding celebrations. For example, I went online to check out a birthday gift for my mom (Happy Birthday Mom!) and thought that a potted plant is a pretty a neat alternative to having floral centrepieces. There’s something so earthy and calming about them. Another great idea would be adorning your tables with these chic and beach-like lanterns.

Barbados Round-Up

At last! I’m back in the office and getting my head on straight. But before I start to dig through my piles of e-mails I thought I’d share with you a mini re-cap of Barbados. Did I mention that it was amazing? The first night we stayed at Royal Westmoreland and each of us were assigned, are you ready for this, our own villa. Crazy huh? If you’re looking for complete privacy, a lux stay, and superb service–this is the place to splurge on.

Surrounded by acres of lush greenery (thanks to their golf course), Royal Westmoreland is truly the epitome of heaven on earth. The Royal Villa that I had the privilege of staying in was a two-storey house complete with three bedrooms (each with their own washroom), a living room, a dining room, a fully stocked kitchen and–my fave part–my own personal private pool! Now life doesn’t get any better than that.
