I’ve noticed a rising trend on Facebook amongst all my recently engaged girlfriends–having engagement proposals captured on film/video. I love seeing the reactions–some funny, some emotional. And I truly believe that being a part of that exciting experience is so awesome–don’t you agree? Would make a great memento to watch, re-live and who knows, even show your kids/grandchildren down the road.

#931: Dropping the “fiancé” bomb as many times as you can
Most engagements don’t last longer than a year, some even shorter. Which is why, using the term “fiance” as many times as you can is so awesome. When else in your life are you going to say “my fiance and I went here” or “my fiance did this”, you don’t get to use it very often so you might as well take it for what it’s worth before you switch over to the “my husband” phase!

#932: Registering!
Actually going to a store and registering, in my opinion, can be a fun task. It’s like going on a shopping spree–well, sort of. After all, it’s the one time you can stock up on the basic essentials for your newlywed nest, or finally get that luxurious espresso machine that you’ve had your eye on for years. And, if you already live together, registering can be fun for those of you who’ve signed up for more mod registries places like an art gallery or travel site.

#933: Finding centrepieces that your guests will fight over–amicably of course
I love weddings that have awesome centrepieces, which you can take home. So awesome in fact, that every guest at the dinner table has their eye on them right from the start. I recently attended a wedding where all the centrepieces were gone in seconds–sometimes a simple vase with gorgeous flowers is all it takes!

#934: Seeing your wedding invitations for the very first time
There’s something quite surreal about seeing your wedding invitation design come to life. You’ve seen the sketches and even ok’d the digital/final proof version. But what’s truly awesome is being able to feel/see the hard copies of your invites.

#935: Being able to have a nice date night in with your mister
We admit wedding planning can get a tad out of hand, which is why we LOVE and are firm believers for taking a quiet night in to reconvene with your fiance. Sometimes a little less wedding talk and a little more red wine and a delicious home-cooked meal can be as relaxing as going to the spa for some R&R. Date night is awesome and we say take advantage of it!

#936: Planning an elopement
Our editor-in-chief Alison did just that and surprised us with the news when she returned to the office. For her, it was pretty awesome to see the shock and happiness on our faces when she told us, and I bet the same goes for all of you that are in the midst of planning a secret wedding.

#937: Finding your first newlywed nest together
According to our recent survey, 74% of couples are already living together, so for the other 26% this awesome idea applies to you–unless you plan on buying a new pad after your married, then this also applies to you. Don’t you love the feeling of shopping for a new place and celebrating when you’ve found it? This idea comes from Jenna who commented on another awesome idea with:
“I LOVE this! In our case, my favourite wedding-related champagne event was when we bought our first home together. Toasting each other with plastic cups while surrounded by cardboard boxes and chowing down on deli sandwiches – yum!”
