How they met: “We met at Dalhousie University in Halifax, when Dave asked me out on a date to watch a local play,” explains Sabine.

Engagement story: “Dave had asked me in June if he could come and spend Christmas in Ontario with my family and I,” Sabine recalls. “Apparently as he went through airport security he had the ring in his jacket pocket. Luckily I had gone through first when the security personnel asked him if I knew anything about it to which he replied that I didn’t. They shielded the x-ray monitor from my view and wished Dave a Merry Christmas. On Christmas Day we went skiing at a local hill and that evening we went for a walk in the snow around my Grandmother’s house. Right there and then he got down on one knee in the snow and asked me to marry him.”
