How they met: “Brett and I actually went to middle school together, but it wasn’t until grade 12 that we became better acquainted,” explains Tanya.

Engagement story: “Brett picked me up from work on a Sunday evening and we ordered in one of my favourite foods, pizza,” Tanya recalls. “Brett ate his pizza so fast, so I asked him why he didn’t get a bigger pizza if he was that hungry. I later realized how nervous he was. After dinner, Brett asked if I wanted to go for a walk around the pond near our house. I hesitated but it was a beautiful May evening and decided to go. We walked around the pond, ending at a gazebo. As we walked into the gazebo I noticed a beautiful bouquet of flowers but suspected nothing, thinking they were for someone else. Suddenly, my favourite love song started playing and Brett was on one knee. I never suspected a thing, and the rest is history.”
