How they met: “Justin was 15 and I was 17 when we met. We went to the same high school together. All he remembers is my long blond hair at the time, and I remember his big brown eyes,” explains Melanie. “I would make excuses constantly to run into him in the hallways!”

Engagement story: “Justin and I had a summer trip planned to drive through Maine and on into Quebec. When we arrived in Quebec City we spent an entire day walking around exploring. Afterward we came back to our room, got ready for this great dinner we had planned, and ventured out again. We had wanted to take a carriage ride around the city, but they had all been taken, so we decide to continue walking on the boardwalk. Justin was holding my hand a lot and all he wanted to do was tour around. Meanwhile all I was doing was complaining about how my feet were hurting from the shoes I had chosen to wear and I just wanted to go back to the room and change and we could come out again. He just kept saying ‘let’s just see what’s down this way,’” Melanie recalls. “We had come across the outside of an old building and an empty court yard. He told me to stand off by the flowers so he could take a picture of me. I stood by myself while he was telling me I was missing something. He dug in his pocket, walked toward me and got down on one knee. I don’t remember what was said in that moment. I always told myself I would concentrate on those words being said to me, but it just didn’t work out that way. I immediately started to cry and kept asking if he was joking…finally I said yes!”
