A Fashionable Wedding In Vancouver, British Columbia
About the couple
Bride: Anita Chan
Groom: Robert Chin
How they met: “I decided to do some online shopping! I reeled Rob in through a site called Plenty of Fish. He kept popping up as a potential match so I decided to take initiative with an introductory email. We exchanged several emails over the summer and didn’t get to meet until Labour Day 2008,” says Anita. “I was constantly traveling for work but we finally set a coffee date. The date almost never took place since Rob showed up 15 minutes late! Fortunately for him, the conversation flowed and the first date lasted 4 hours.”
Engagement story: “Rob had been scheming for months. For the first (and last) time, he had to tell me a few white lies to keep the ring research on the down low. For our anniversary, Rob planned a weekend trip to Seattle. Even though I had a head cold and had just broken my toe from my debut soccer game, we were looking forward to a weekend getaway,” explains Anita. “Rob booked a suite at the Pan Pacific and surprised me with a couple’s massage after dinner/shopping. He had suggested getting some champagne earlier that day, but I, being clueless, really just wanted some wine. We brought the wine and cheese back to our suite and relaxed. Rob had made a customized scrapbook of our time together. I was so touched and teary eyed at this gesture. At the back of the album, Rob had written a heart-warming letter and read it to me. The letter ended with a proposal.”
