A Vintage, Schoolhouse Wedding In Toronto
About the couple
Bride: Catherine Baird
Groom: Ben McEvoy
How they met: “We get asked this question all the time. The short answer is ‘We met online,’ but the real (and more fun) answer is, ‘We found each other online,’” explains Catherine. “After years of serendipitously missing each other in the hallways and arts classrooms of Sheridan College, it finally took an algorithm to bring us together. When we finally met there was an instant sense of familiarity, and we knew that somehow we had met before. From our first coffee date at the Green Beanery in the Annex, there was never a question that we were meant for each other.”
Engagement story: “It was October 10th, 2010 and I was up to my arms in turkey gizzards when Ben suggested we go for a walk before the family came for Thanksgiving dinner,” Catherine recalls. “I cleaned up and we grabbed a coffee and walked to Dufferin Grove park where we sat on our favourite bench and he proposed with his family ring (we chose my actual ring together later). We were ready to be a family.”
