Engagement story: “On Christmas day 2010, we spent the morning with family on the mainland, and headed for the ferry. While we were on the ferry, I could tell something was on Tyler’s mind,” explains Hayley. “When we got off the ferry and were standing outside the terminal at Departure Bay, Tyler led me to a spot on the sidewalk and asked: ‘Do you realize where are standing?’ I replied with a smile and he said, ‘This is where we first hugged when I came to see you four years ago,’ and then he got down on one knee! I instantly figured out what was happening and couldn’t hold it together! I started crying as he looked up at me and told me how much he loved me and then asked me to marry him.”
