An Intimate Backyard Wedding in the Mountains
Wedding date: August 14, 2010
Wedding theme: Natural, modern, elegant
Guests: 75
Best moment: “For me, it was walking down the aisle,” says Pamela. “All of a sudden, this vision that I had been developing in my head for the last year and half was happening. I felt beautiful, I had my amazing parents at my side, and all of our friends and family were gathered in a place that means so much to me to celebrate the love that Ken and I have for each other. Hearing the beautiful music, feeling the warmth of the sunshine, and seeing the smile on my soon-to-be husband’s face as I walked down the aisle toward him was overwhelming. I’ve never felt so special and so happy as that moment, and I’ll certainly never forget it.”
Wedding song: “We did our first dance to ‘When You Say Nothing At All’ by Ronan Keating. Half way through, we surprised our guests and burst into a fun, choreographed dance to ‘Say Hey, I Love You’ by Michael Franti and Spearhead. It was awesome– and totally unexpected for us, which our guests loved,” says Pamela.
Favourite wedding detail: “We loved how seamlessly the whole theme came together. Right from the setting (green grass and forests, brown fences, white tent) down to the napkins and the icing on the cake. The whole feel to the day was fresh and vibrant, and we loved that! If we had to pick a favourite wedding detail, I think it would be our bar believe it or not! Going with the green country theme, we propped my Dad’s bright green canoe (which he bought when he was 15!) up on hay bales, and filled it with ice and drinks to serve as our bar! It was fun and not traditional, yet practical– just like us,” explains Pamela.
Honeymoon: “We’re hoping to go to Greece after we finish building their own house,” says Pamela.
